Dodgers Teammates Offer Heartwarming Support to Vesia Family After Loss
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla Vesia, received unwavering support from his Major League Baseball teammates in the weeks following the death of their newborn daughter.“It was incredibly touching to see all the guys show up in coordinated sleepwear,” Kayla, 29, wrote over a Saturday, January 4, TikTok video, where Alex, also 29, appeared stunned on Christmas morning as his teammates each wore matching navy flannel pajama sets.
In the recently shared footage, Alex could be heard exclaiming, “I absolutely knew it!” once he realized all of the Dodgers athletes were dressed identically. He added, “We’re all wearing the same thing!”Kayla captioned her post, “A welcome moment of levity.”Dodgers Star Alex Vesia’s Wife Shares a Heartfelt Update After the Loss of Their BabyAlex and Kayla announced in November 2025 that their baby daughter, Sterling Sol, “passed away.”“There are no adequate words to express the sorrow we are experiencing, but we hold her close in our hearts and cherish every moment we had with her,” an Instagram statement read. “Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and compassion during this difficult time. Our baseball family stepped up for us, and we wouldn’t be able to navigate this without their support.”While Alex and Kayla were grieving their unexpected loss, he sat out the entirety of the Dodgers’ World Series championship tournament last fall. The L.A. team, who even sported Alex’s jersey number on their baseball caps in a show of solidarity, ultimately defeated the Toronto Blue Jays to claim the championship trophy.Kayla later returned to social media on Friday, January 3, providing an update on how she and her husband were coping.

“Alex and I are attempting to get through each day. Every day feels vastly different for us, and I struggle to find the right words,” Kayla said in an emotional TikTok video. “I’ve shared so much of Alex and I’s life online, and it felt appropriate to come and express my gratitude. I am truly thankful for the community of people who have shown their support and love for us. It has provided us with considerable comfort during this time.”Kayla further described the profound difficulty of losing her child.“Be prepared for anything, I was prepared for whatever outcome might occur. I wasn’t prepared for not bringing my baby home,” she tearfully said on Friday. “I’m uncertain what the new year will hold. I’ll gradually be returning to social media. Love you all, and that’s about it for now.”Dodgers Family Rallies Around Alex Vesia After His Baby Daughter’s DeathAccording to Kayla, she intended to begin sharing updates from her life and grief journey in the new year.“[I don’t know] what this content will look like moving forward, but I do want to share my experience,” Kayla said. “I don’t know how much I’ll share, I don’t know the specifics, but I do know I want to share if it can help someone who’s experiencing the same thing feel like they’re not alone.”She continued, “I don’t want to come online and express my sadness. I don’t think that’s beneficial for anyone. I believe it will be a valuable outlet to be able to talk and share, separate from Alex and me talking or from us speaking with our therapist. It’s simply a different avenue. Right now, I don’t have a great deal to say, just that I am incredibly grateful for everyone showing so much support and love for us during this time.”
