Dove Cameron and Måneskin's Damiano David Are Engaged!

Dove Cameron and Damiano David are now engaged.

“My most cherished aspect of being alive,” Cameron, 29, wrote on Instagram Saturday, January 3, sharing images of her diamond engagement ring. “Happy New Year.”

David, 26, proposed to Cameron with a square-cut diamond featuring a halo arrangement around the stone and along the band.

Cameron was initially romantically connected to the Måneskin singer in September 2023, almost a year before they made their red carpet debut at a pre-Grammys gala. Cameron looked stunning in a strapless red gown as she shared affectionate moments with David on the red carpet of Clive Davis’ annual celebration in February 2024.

Several months later, Cameron explained the beginnings of her romance with David.

“The first time [we met] was at the 2022 VMAs and both my band and his were nominated for the same award,” she told Cosmopolitan during an interview released in June 2024. “Then a few months later, their team contacted me about attending their album release, but the dates didn’t work out, and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s so thoughtful that they considered me. We’d only met once.’”

She added, “At one point, my band and I had been considering a collaboration. They had already recorded something, so I went in and recorded over that track.”

Cameron and David crossed paths again at the 2023 VMAs.

“We had both been in situations where we experienced significant hurt in the past and we are both very sensitive individuals. And I believe when we met, we weren’t actively searching for a relationship,” Cameron told the outlet. “It was more of an exploratory process, very slow, cautious, carefully assessing, question-based for about eight hours before it finally felt like, ‘Okay, are we holding hands now?’”

David later described their relationship as the “healthiest” he had ever experienced.

“I’m in one of the happiest periods of my personal life,” he said during a March appearance on SiriusXM’s Hits 1 show. “I have a healthy relationship, and I’m able to spend time with my family, my friends, and take care of myself. The achievement for me now is to integrate my work and my personal life and not constantly have them in conflict.”

Cameron was previously engaged to her former Liv and Maddie co-star Ryan McCartan, who proposed in April 2016 after three years of dating. Cameron and McCartan, now 32, ended their relationship the following October.

“Dove has decided that this relationship isn’t what she desires,” McCartan tweeted in October 2016. “We still love each other very much. Please be understanding, as this is difficult.”

Cameron later dated her Descendants co-star Thomas Doherty for four years before they separated in 2020. That same year, Cameron publicly revealed she is bisexual.

“I never had confusion about my identity,” she told Gay Times in a May 2021 interview. “I felt like I wouldn’t be accepted and I had this strange idea that people wouldn’t believe me. … It felt like something I could never discuss. I feel like the industry has evolved in terms of allowing people with platforms to be authentic and not be scrutinized.”

David, for his part, was previously in a six-year relationship with model Giorgia Soleri before they parted ways in 2023.
