Dove Cameron is engaged to Damiano David after a whirlwind romance

Dove Cameron has discovered a “Boyfriend” (now fiancé) in Måneskin’s Damiano David.

The Disney alum and the rock singer initially sparked romance speculation in September 2023 before officially confirming their relationship with a passionate kiss at the Pre-Grammy Gala red carpet in February 2024.

Prior to Damiano, Cameron has been involved in two well-known, long-term relationships, including one with her Descendants co-star Thomas Doherty. She dated the Gossip Girl actor for four years until they decided to go their separate ways in 2020.

Four years earlier, Cameron ended a relationship with former Liv and Maddie co-star Ryan McCartan. The former couple had been together for three years and announced their engagement in April 2016 before ultimately separating in October of that same year.

“Dove has decided this connection isn’t what she desires,” McCartan tweeted in October 2016. “We still care for each other deeply. Please be understanding, as this is a difficult time.”

Following her two public breakups, Cameron admitted that she has reassessed what she chooses to share about her romantic life with the public.

“It’s not that I felt differently about those individuals or anything like that, it’s simply a difference in perspective when you’re dating someone and you’re 20. You want everyone to know about your love story,” she told Entertainment Tonight in October 2021. “Now I look back and I’m like, ‘Why would I have done that?’ But it just feels natural when you’re that age.”

David, for his part, ended his relationship with Giorgia Soleri in June 2023.

September 2023

Rumors of the singers’ romance began after Cameron was spotted attending a Måneskin concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

November 2023

Cameron was seen at a Måneskin concert in Brazil in early November. Shortly after, the pair were photographed kissing on a beach in Sydney, Australia.

February 2024

Cameron and David solidified their relationship with a kiss at a pre-Grammys gala on February 3, marking their red carpet debut as a couple. They were later seen together at a Grammys afterparty the following day.

June 2024

Cameron and David attended The Cameron Boyce Foundation’s annual Cam For a Cause Gala at The Beehive in Los Angeles on June 2. Boyce was Cameron’s Descendants co-star and close friend until his passing (caused by an epileptic seizure) in 2019 at age 20.

That same month, Cameron provided further details about how she and David initially met — and the reality of what appeared to be a “passionate” start to their romance.

“The first time was at the 2022 VMAs and his band and I were both nominated for the same award,” she recalled during an interview with Cosmopolitan. “And then a couple months later, their team reached out to me about attending their album release and I couldn’t make the dates work, but I was like, ‘Oh, that’s so kind that they thought about me. We only met once.’ At one point, the band and I had been considering a collaboration. They had recorded something, so I went in, and I recorded over that track.”

At the 2023 VMAs, she and David were in “a very different place” and the relationship began to flourish.

“We had both been in situations where we were deeply hurt in the past and we are very sensitive individuals,” she explained. “And I think when we met, we weren’t actively searching, and it was just a process of getting to know each other… it was very, very slow, cautious, feeling-out.”
