DWTS Pros Alan Bersten and Emma Slater Share Sweet Moment Amidst Competition

Despite her recent elimination from the 34th season of Dancing With the Stars, professional dancer Emma Slater has the unwavering support of her boyfriend and fellow pro, Alan Bersten.

“Eternally thankful for your affection and for the individual who captured this image of you kissing me with your eyes wide open! @alanbersten,” Slater, 36, shared about Bersten, 31, on Instagram on Friday, November 14.

The photograph showed Slater in a dazzling backless outfit adorned with sequins and fringe, while Bersten, sporting a gleaming white shirt, embraced her shoulders and kissed her — notably, with his eyes uncovered.

This picture appeared to have been taken at the DWTS 20th Birthday Celebration on Tuesday, November 11, an event where Slater and her celebrity partner, Andy Richter, faced elimination following nine weeks of competing.

“All I can truly express at this moment is my love for you, Andy, and my gratitude for the way you’ve transformed my life,” Slater expressed about Richter, 59, accompanying an Instagram video on Thursday, November 13. “I am so happy that we are now family. @richtercommaandy I shed countless tears while compiling this. Behold these cherished moments. You are truly EXCEPTIONAL.”

Bersten, who remains in the contest with his partner Elaine Hendrix, consistently championed the partnership between Slater and Richter — even though some audience members believed Richter should have been eliminated sooner based on his dancing abilities.

“Andy is remarkable and genuinely resonates with the American public,” Bersten revealed exclusively to Us Weekly after Week 3 in September. “Everyone merits their place here. And it’s simply a very challenging season.”

Reports indicate that Slater and Bersten started a romantic relationship in 2024, while season 33 of DWTS was airing. Their relationship was publicly confirmed when they shared a kiss during a live tour performance in April 2025.

“Did that gain widespread attention?” Bersten inquired exclusively of Us regarding the revelation of their romance. “We are simply living in the moment.”

Before her relationship with Bersten, Slater was wed to fellow former pro Sasha Farber from 2018 until 2023. Farber, 41, expressed his complete endorsement of Slater and Bersten’s relationship.

“It’s certainly not uncomfortable,” he stated during an October TikTok Live session. “I am genuinely pleased for her and Alan, and I extend my best wishes to them. That is all I have to offer.”

Without elaborating, Farber clarified that “circumstances in life don’t invariably unfold as planned,” making it “futile” to “ever harbor animosity” towards others.

“For what purpose? Therefore, you express gratitude for the remarkable period you shared — as, you know, our time together was not negative, it was wonderful — and you proceed forward, wishing the other individual nothing but success,” he elaborated. “There is no benefit in hatred, as it would only consume you internally. So, we have no need for that in life, correct? Simply live in the present, be content, and the past is behind us.”

During a 2023 installment of the “Viall Files” podcast, where she addressed their breakup, Slater disclosed that their differing views on “having children” contributed to their divorce.

“It’s noteworthy because while I desire to have children, I am unwilling to impede Sasha’s journey towards parenthood, as I understand he is prepared for that,” she articulated. “I prefer not to discuss him extensively, as that is truly his narrative to share, but the issue revolves around children.”

She added: “I genuinely wish to have children. I am uncertain about the exact timing or circumstances; I am simply navigating that personal process. This is not a matter I approach with indifference, and I would not commit to something unless I am entirely certain, as that is not my nature.”
