Ed Sheeran Sets Down Roots in America Trading Suffolk for Nashville Dreams

Despite growing up in England, Ed Sheeran and his family are preparing for a significant relocation across the Atlantic to the United States.
“I’m on the verge of moving to America. It feels like I might be the only one making a move to America,” the 34-year-old Sheeran shared on “The 2 Johnnies Podcast” on Sunday, September 7. “I’m heading there for a tour that will last a while, and since I have a family, I can’t just commute. We are going and settling there permanently.”
Sheeran currently resides in Suffolk alongside his wife, Cherry Seaborn, and their two young daughters, Lyra, 4, and Jupiter, 2.
The “Shape of You” singer previously mentioned that Nashville was his “most beloved city in the States” – and he could envision himself living there someday.

“My ultimate goal would be something like, ‘I’m going to move to Nashville and transition into country music,’” Sheeran revealed on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in April. “I believe you simply have to approach it authentically. It’s a genre that commands genuine respect. It’s not something you can just casually dabble in.”
Sheeran pointed out that “once you commit to country, you can’t revert.”
“When you’re established there, you’re there for good,” he added.
The musician and Seaborn, 33, first met as children in Sheffield, England, but their connection wasn’t reignited until 2015 when a “mutual acquaintance” brought them back together.
“One of our closest friends was working on my tour,” Sheeran told Us Weekly in March 2017. “So, when we arrived in New York, where she was living at the time, we spent time together and reconnected through our shared friend. She’s wonderful.”

The devoted couple exchanged vows in December 2018 and later welcomed Lyra in 2020, followed by Jupiter in 2022.
Following Lyra’s birth, Sheeran expressed that fatherhood had provided him with a new life direction beyond his career.
“I simply discovered that I genuinely lacked a sense of purpose outside of [music] because when I allocated myself fixed periods away from work, I wasn’t engaging in anything I enjoyed, as I love making music,” he stated on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in December 2021. “And [being a dad] has truly given me purpose and something in life that is actually more significant than my profession.”
While Sheeran generally keeps his family life private, he does touch upon his relationship in some of his songs, including “Perfect” from his Divide album.
“‘Perfect’ was the very first song I composed for the album, and it was inspired by Cherry,” he informed Us in March 2017. “The lyric that goes, ‘Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song’ referred to a time when we were in Ibiza, listening to Future’s ‘March Madness,’ literally shoeless and exuberantly dancing on the lawn, which was a particularly lovely moment. I didn’t witness her reaction to the song because she was living in New York at the time. So, I simply emailed it to her, but she truly adored it.”
