Eddie Osefo, husband of The Real Housewives of Potomac personality Wendy Osefo, faces the potential revocation of his legal license.

In an exclusive interview, Us Weekly consulted two legal experts, who cautioned that Eddie is “in jeopardy” of losing his ability to practice law actively in Washington D.C. should he be found guilty of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and providing a false statement to law enforcement, charges stemming from his arrest on October 9, which resulted in both him and Wendy being jailed last week.

“The majority of states, D.C. included, impose penalties on lawyers found guilty of fraud or other offenses involving moral depravity. Usually, they await the conclusion of the criminal proceedings, but in severe situations, they might request the criminal court to mandate abstaining from legal practice as a bail condition,” Texas criminal defense attorney Sam Bassett, who is not involved with or representing Wendy or Eddie in this matter, informed Us.

Criminal defense lawyer John W. Day, similarly uninvolved with the legal proceedings, reiterated this perspective.

“Merely facing felony charges does not automatically result in Eddie Osefo losing his law license; however, if he is convicted of or admits guilt to a felony — or a ‘serious crime,’ potentially encompassing a felony or an offense of moral turpitude — the Washington D.C. disciplinary board has the authority to pursue disciplinary action against him, which could extend to disbarment,” Day conveyed to Us.

Court records acquired by Us indicate that Wendy, aged 41, and Eddie, also 41, were indicted by a grand jury on Thursday, October 9. The couple, known from reality television, were processed in Westminster, Maryland, and remained incarcerated overnight until they each secured release by posting their respective $50,000 bail.

These accusations originate from a supposed home invasion that reportedly occurred at their residence in April 2024. Nevertheless, Wendy was observed on social media sporting one of the rings that was purportedly stolen.
