Elizabeth Castravet Shares Heartfelt Grief Over Father Chuck Potthast's Passing
Elizabeth Castravet from 90 Day Fiancé offered a heartfelt personal reflection following the passing of her dad, Chuck Potthast.
On Saturday, November 29, the 35-year-old Elizabeth shared an Instagram video featuring herself and her husband, Andrei Castravet, in a field with their two kids, accompanied by a caption expressing her profound sorrow. “I’ve never experienced anything as challenging as profound sadness before. Andrei and I are dedicated to ensuring our children stay cheerful and maintain their regular schedule. I attempt to engage in our usual activities, yet I frequently find myself battling feelings of guilt,” she penned. “I endeavor to smile and lift my spirits, but truthfully, I&m profoundly pained inside.”
Subsequently, she requested her followers to offer suggestions for dealing with loss, confirming to one fan who had also mourned her father and felt stunned for a year, “I am still in disbelief as well; that observation is accurate.”
Chuck, a familiar face on the TLC reality program with his daughter's family and his wider relatives, passed away in the previous month. Elizabeth and the 39-year-old Andrei announced his death jointly on Instagram on November 23. “Our family faced a devastating event a fortnight ago, leaving us utterly heartbroken. My kind, affectionate, and thoughtful father has passed on. We are struggling to understand how to live and progress without him,” stated the couple, who wed in 2017 and are parents to a daughter named Eleanor and a son named Winston. “We kindly ask for your respect for our privacy during this intensely challenging period.”

Elizabeth interacted with various followers commenting on her latest update, agreeing with one who proposed that she “compile photo albums containing his pictures” by calling it “a thoughtful suggestion.”
A different admirer recommended that Elizabeth find solace in “believing he has moved on to a more peaceful realm,” to which her reply was, “Indeed.”
Just two days after Elizabeth and Andrei's public statement, Andrei posted his personal homage to his deceased father-in-law. “This period has been exceptionally, exceptionally difficult for us,” Andrei communicated into the camera in an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, November 25. “I am aware there have been conflicts, disagreements, and narratives throughout the years, but the content viewers saw on television represents only a small fraction of our true bond. I can affirm that Chuck truly enjoyed being filmed. He adored the dynamism, he appreciated the thrill; he truly did. The bond among all of us … he generally had a fondness for people.”

Throughout Chuck's participation in the program, which debuted in January 2014 and chronicled foreign individuals marrying American spouses and managing the process within the 90-day visa limit, he and Andrei frequently disagreed.
This often fueled on-screen conflicts, a fact Andrei recognized in his homage. “Some of my fondest recollections are from moments off-camera, where we were laughing, conversing, and jesting about our televised disagreements, while in reality, we were getting along splendidly … just like close friends,” he stated. “That is how I will cherish his memory.”
Andrei proceeded, “I wish to clarify that all circulating gossip and sensational headlines at this moment are entirely false. Regarding the actual events, I will discuss them at a later time with proper deference. Presently, my sole intention is to pay my respects to him. There is much more to convey regarding this … concerning our genuine bond and the complete story. May you rest in peace, Chuck.”
