Erika Kirk condemns conspiracy theories about Charlie Kirk's burial place and demands privacy for her family.
Erika Kirk (formerly Frantzve) publicly criticized the baseless claims circulating about the burial place of her late husband, Charlie Kirk.
“Can I keep just one element private? Can my children keep just one element private? Everything surrounding Charlie’s death has already been made public,” Erika, 37, commented during a December 10 appearance on Fox News’ Outnumbered. “We plan to build a truly beautiful memorial for my husband at Turning Point USA that will be visible to the public and will be remarkable.”
While Erika and the Turning Point USA team proceed with planning the public memorial, she desires that Charlie’s final resting place remain confidential to protect her family. (Charlie passed away in September at age 31 after being fatally shot while speaking at a college campus in Utah.)
“May I have one thing, may my children have one thing that we hold sacred, where my husband is interred, where I don’t have to worry about some radical extremist coming and desecrating my husband’s grave while my daughter is sitting there praying,” she continued. “This man is my husband. Yes, he was recognized as Charlie Kirk by the world, and I am grateful for the deep affection many people held for him, but this is my husband, and I want to be able to retain one aspect that is sacred to our family.”
Erika Kirk Addresses Criticism of Her Grieving Process
Erika, who had two children with Charlie before his passing, shared that she feels a strong connection to the Book of Nehemiah. The biblical text recounts the story of the prophet with the same name, who is given the responsibility of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
“I do not have time to respond to the surrounding noise. My silence should not be mistaken for complacency,” she stated. “My silence does not imply that Turning Point USA or the dedicated staff members who loved my husband, and whom my husband loved, are somehow involved in a cover-up. We are focused on rebuilding.”
Erika added that she and the Turning Point USA team have obtained information related to Charlie’s death and have subsequently provided it to "the authorities."
“No stone will be left unturned. I seek justice for my husband, for myself, and for my family, more intensely than anyone else,” she explained. “So when you insist on telling me to slow down while we are building, I cannot accommodate that request.”
Erika noted that she is indifferent if people call her "names," but insisted they leave her loved ones out of it.
“Insult me as you wish. Follow whatever speculative narratives you desire. But when you target my family, my Turning Point USA family, my Charlie Kirk Show family, when you go after the people I care about while generating significant revenue from every episode by suggesting they are complicit in this. No,” she declared, adding that she now feels a sense of “righteous anger.”
Erika Kirk Offers Forgiveness to Husband’s Assailant at Memorial Service
Erika clarified that she is not the only person mourning Charlie, as her Turning Point USA colleagues are also coping with the loss, given that several witnessed her husband’s death.
“Your words carry significant weight, and we are human beings. My team members are not machines or automatons. They are human,” she said. “We are experiencing more death threats directed at our team than I have ever encountered. I have received kidnapping threats. … My dedicated team is exhausted, and every time these incidents are brought up, what are we expected to do? Relive that trauma repeatedly? They watched my husband get murdered. I have no idea how I would have reacted if I was there that day, and I am grateful that I didn't have to witness it, but my team has been profoundly impacted.”
Erika concluded her message by stating she had no intention of backing down and requested that those propagating conspiracy theories about Charlie’s death and burial "stop." She also held up Charlie’s posthumously released book, Stop, in the Name of God, which was published on Tuesday, December 9.
