Erika Kirk Delivers Heartfelt Tribute to Her Late Husband Charlie Kirk

Erika Kirk (née Frantzve), the spouse of Charlie Kirk, publicly addressed the passing of her 31-year-old husband.

"Charlie cherished existence. He embraced his own journey, he held a deep affection for his country, he found solace and spiritual connection in the natural world which always helped him closer to God," Erika, 36, shared during a live broadcast on Charlie's X account on Friday, September 12. "He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and had an immense passion for the Oregon Ducks."

Erika further stated that Charlie held profound affection for his family and his responsibilities as a spouse and a parent. (They are parents to a son and a daughter.)

"Above all, Charlie adored his children and loved me wholeheartedly, a truth I was reminded of daily. He ensured I was always aware of it," she continued. "Each day, he would inquire, 'How might I better support you? How can I be a more devoted husband? A more exemplary father?' … He was an exceptionally kind man. He remains an exceptionally kind man. He embodied the ideal father. He was the quintessential husband."

She went on to emphasize, "Listen closely when I state this: no one is ever too youthful to comprehend the teachings of the gospel. Absolutely no one. Likewise, no one is too young to participate in safeguarding this magnificent nation. This is the country my husband cherished and continues to cherish, and conversely, no one is ever too aged; there are no boundaries based on years. I am certain my husband remains with us. He is observing us from above. I cannot recall the last time I found rest. I was unable to sleep the previous night."

She then spoke directly to her deceased husband. "Charlie, my love, Charlie, I vow never to let your enduring influence fade, my dearest; I will not," she declared. "Oh, Charlie, I adore you. I adore you, my darling. May you find peace in the embrace of our Lord as he comforts you with the very words I know your spirit perpetually sought to hear: ‘Well done, my good and loyal servant.’”

She also acknowledged the difficulty of coping with Charlie's passing while raising children, remembering a conversation with their daughter, Gigi, the evening before. "Upon my return home last night, Gigi, our little girl, rushed into my embrace, and as I spoke with her, she expressed, ‘Mommy, I miss you,’ to which I replied, ‘I miss you too, sweetheart,’ and then she inquired, ‘Where is Daddy?’ How does one explain such a profound loss to a three-year-old? She is merely three years old. And I told her, ‘Daddy loves you immensely, darling; he’s on a business journey with Jesus so he can provide for your blueberry allowance.’"

Charlie sustained a fatal gunshot wound during an engagement for his American Comeback Tour at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, September 10. Early dispatches suggested he was in a precarious state, however, his advocacy group, Turning Point USA, subsequently announced Charlie's passing.

“It is with profound sorrow that we, the leadership collective of Turning Point USA, inform you that, earlier today, Charlie ascended to his everlasting peace with Jesus Christ in Heaven,” the organization communicated in an official message to its staff and proponents on Wednesday.

Former President Donald Trump corroborated the announcement through his platform, Truth Social, stating, “The exceptional, indeed iconic, Charlie Kirk, has passed away. No individual grasped or genuinely connected with the spirit of young people across the United States better than Charlie. He was cherished and respected by everyone, particularly by myself, and now, he is no longer among us. Melania and I extend our heartfelt condolences to his wonderful wife, Erika, and their family. Charlie, we hold you dear!”

The 79-year-old Trump further mentioned he had commanded all United States flags to be flown at half-staff in homage to Charlie until Sunday, September 14, at 6 p.m.

Charlie, at the age of 18 in 2012, co-established Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization promoting conservative viewpoints among high school and university students. He subsequently emerged as a highly impactful conservative figure in the United States, forging strong connections with individuals within Trump's inner circle.

Charlie wed Erika, an erstwhile Miss Arizona USA, in 2021. They subsequently celebrated the arrival of their daughter in August 2022, followed by a son in May 2024.

Previously this year, Erika posted an homage to her spouse on Independence Day, expressing particular gratitude for him on national commemorative days such as the Fourth of July.

“I admire his profound affection for this nation. He held the conviction that the liberties we commemorate today merit daily safeguarding,” she penned, accompanying a clip of Charlie interacting with their children at the seashore. “And even if one does not concur with all of his pronouncements, I trust that you can still be moved by his ability to utter them. By our collective right to vocalize our thoughts. That this land, though flawed in certain aspects and exemplary in others, is united by a Constitution that elegantly preserves our freedom of expression, our spiritual practices, our dwellings, and our aspirations.
