Erika revealed that her initial reaction upon learning of Charlie’s fatal shooting during a Turning Point USA speaking engagement at Utah Valley University was a fervent prayer for pregnancy.
“We had always envisioned a family of four [children],” she elaborated. “And I was earnestly praying to God that I would be pregnant when he was murdered. … Both of us shared an immense excitement for expanding our family.”
Erika, who shared two children with Charlie before his untimely death, expressed that another child “would represent the ultimate blessing amidst this profound catastrophe.”
“Now, when I encounter young couples, my advice to them is, ‘Please, do not postpone it.’ Especially for young women, do not delay. A career can always be pursued, and you can always return to work. But the opportunity to have children is not something you can simply regain,” she continued, her voice filled with emotion.

When questioned if she ever harbored a “feeling” that Charlie’s death was imminent, Erika responded that while she and her husband “were always aware of threats,” they remained undaunted.
“We consistently knew there were individuals who harbored deep, passionate hatred for us. Yet, it never instilled fear in us. Never; he was never intimidated by that, nor was I,” she stated. “Naturally, we prioritize protecting our children; we intentionally do not display their faces online. But I believe we conducted our lives in such a manner that, if a day were our last, it was our last.”
Erika further elaborated, “That conviction is precisely why Charlie’s speeches resonated so powerfully, because he approached each one as if it could be his final address. And he invested such intentionality into every word. … We were always cognizant of threats, always aware of that possibility. But unequivocally, we never lived in apprehension of when that day would arrive.”
Erika Kirk Shares Insights on Receiving ‘Signs’ From Charlie Kirk
Asked if she has experienced any “signs” from Charlie following his passing, Erika recounted a touching personal anecdote.
“It’s quite fascinating — when we first began dating — this is a personal detail, but I share it perhaps as a sign for you to know Charlie is present with you in some way — when we were dating, walking to dinner one evening, and this occurred frequently, lights would begin to flicker,” she recounted. “And he would glance up at the light and remark, ‘You know, it’s so peculiar. This happens to me often.’ And I would respond, ‘Really?’”
Erika continued, “So throughout our entire courtship and marriage, whenever we were in a room and a light flickered, he would simply look at me and wink. It was our special unspoken communication. A complete frequency phenomenon.”
Erika shared that on the night of Charlie’s death, alone in a hotel room, the bathroom light started flickering intensely, like a “strobe light.”
“A part of me couldn’t sleep due to the strobe light. Another part of me couldn’t sleep because my world had simply crumbled,” she expressed. “And the final part of me couldn’t sleep because I felt, ‘My love, I feel your presence. I know you are here.'”

Erika mentioned that she and her 3-year-old daughter frequently discuss Charlie’s presence in “heaven.”
“I present it in a very joyful way. I tell her, ‘Daddy had such a wonderful day today.’ To everyone who has sent letters and gifts to my children, my sincere gratitude. I tell her, and my son, who is only a year and a half, ‘Daddy is telling all his friends to send you gifts and letters, and Daddy is orchestrating from heaven to ensure you always feel profoundly loved,’” she unveiled.
Erika continued regarding her daughter, “Just the other day she asked, ‘Tell me about Daddy’s day in heaven.’ So, we simply converse about that at night. And then sometimes I’ll ask, ‘Well, what do you imagine he did in heaven today?’ And we just, I just strive to make it exciting because heaven is our true home. And so I simply want her to understand that Daddy is having an incredible time and building a place for her and our family in heaven.”

Erika addressed publicly her embrace with Vice President JD Vance at a Turning Point USA event on October 29, which had drawn some speculation.
“My primary love language is touch, if you will,” she elucidated. “So, I can provide a step-by-step account: An emotional video had just concluded. I am approaching, [JD] is approaching. I am beginning to shed tears.”
Erika and Vance then shared an embrace.
“He utters, ‘I’m so proud of you.’ And I respond, ‘God bless you,’ and I gently touch the back of his head,” Erika recollected. “Anyone I have ever hugged, where I’ve touched the back of their head, I invariably say, ‘God bless you.’”

Erika Kirk’s Message to Charlie Kirk’s Accused Perpetrator
Erika conveyed a potent message intended for Charlie’s alleged assailant, Tyler Robinson.
“It would not be sympathy. It would not be anger,” she stated regarding her potential feelings if she could address him. “Anything I could ever wish upon him or his family would pale in comparison to the justice of God. And so I would view them almost with the sentiment, ‘I am so glad I am not you. … And I pray that, you know, you discover a path to be right with the Lord.’”
Police identified Robinson as Charlie’s suspected shooter on September 12. He was subsequently indicted on charges of capital offense aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm. Robinson also faces multiple counts including obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child. He is currently held without bail in the Utah county jail, awaiting his initial in-person public hearing scheduled for January 2026.
