Erika Kirk Honors Late Husband Charlie Kirk's Legacy on His Birthday and Posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom Award
The memory of Charlie Kirk is being honored on the occasion of what would have marked his 32nd year.
A recently released video, distributed through Instagram on Tuesday, October 14, by his widow, Erika Kirk, and his organization Turning Point USA, commemorated the cherished moments the conservative figure created with his loved ones, featuring segments from their marriage ceremony, the arrival of their offspring, and significant life events.
“He embodied the ideal father. He was the exemplary husband,” stated Erika, 36, during a voiceover as a brief segment of his marriage proposal was displayed. (Erika had shared news of her engagement to Charlie in December 2020, commenting, “When God crafts your love story, you are blessed to wed your closest companion.”)
The couple solemnized their marriage the subsequent year, on May 8, 2021, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Their wedding reception, held at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess hotel, was financed by Charlie’s right-leaning advocacy group.

Erika and Charlie subsequently became parents to a daughter in August 2022, followed by a son in May 2024.
“Repeatedly, he would encourage young individuals to seek out their future partners, to embrace the roles of spouses and parents,” Erika is heard remarking in the footage, elaborating on her deceased husband’s public advocacy. “His motivation for this was his desire for everyone to share in the experiences he cherished.”
She noted that among his profoundest pleasures was “nurturing a family,” a sentiment he was eager to impart.
This past Tuesday, Charlie received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in a posthumous recognition.
“This day, we gather to commemorate and pay tribute to a valiant champion of freedom, an adored figure who inspired the youth unlike anyone I have witnessed. And an American patriot of unwavering belief, exceptional character, and supreme distinction. The departed, revered Charlie Kirk,” commented President Donald Trump regarding Charlie’s lasting impact, during an address at the Rose Garden.
Charlie, a conservative political analyst and proponent, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the neck at Utah Valley University on September 10, during his presence at his hallmark “Prove Me Wrong” booth, which was part of his American Comeback Tour. He was 31 years old.
A 22-year-old individual, identified as a suspect, surrendered to law enforcement following a 33-hour search, leading to his arrest and charges for the alleged murder of Charlie. He is presently detained without bond in a Utah correctional facility. Should a conviction occur, the 22-year-old could be subjected to capital punishment.

Following Charlie’s demise, Erika has assumed the roles of CEO and chairman of the board for Turning Point USA, appointed by a unanimous decision. Subsequently, she presented an emotional tribute at his memorial service, held on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
During her address, Erika pledged to uphold her husband’s principles and pursue his aspirations, concurrently expressing her forgiveness towards the individual purportedly accountable for her husband’s passing.
Throughout the weekend, Erika shared insights into her personal experience with sorrow, likening its progression to undulating waves.
“One moment finds you prostrate on the ground, calling out the name Jesus amidst strenuous breathing,” she penned on Instagram on October 11. “The next, you are engaging with your offspring in rooms adorned with family portraits, experiencing a surge of emotion you can only strive to describe as divinely imbued, a poignant happiness as a smile graces your countenance.”
She added, “It is commonly said that time mends wounds. Yet, love does not seek restoration. Love seeks commemoration. It is a profound realization that this immense sorrow did not diminish my affection for my husband. Instead, it intensified it. It solidified it.”
