Erin Bates is embracing optimism while adapting to her changed life following a severe battle with sepsis.

“After nearly three weeks hospitalized, I'm incredibly grateful to finally be returning home to our children,” Erin, aged 34, shared on Instagram that Saturday, September 13. “We still lack complete clarity, and I haven't regained movement in my right leg, yet we are intentionally appreciating every positive aspect — particularly the joy of family reunification. Your collective prayers have sustained us and are profoundly meaningful to our family.”

In a subsequent online post, Erin featured a meal prepared by her mother, Kelly Jo Bates. “So appreciative that my Mom is here to assist us through this experience! @thebatesfam,” Erin communicated via Instagram on Monday, September 15. “#recoveryprocess #newborn #kin #reunited #grateful.”

Erin faced a significant health crisis following the birth of her seventh child with Paine on August 25.

Paine reported that Erin developed a critical urinary tract infection and a kidney infection, which progressed into septic shock.

Septic shock represents the final and gravest phase of sepsis, as per the Cleveland Clinic. This condition arises when an individual's immune system responds excessively to an infection. Potential treatments involve antibiotics, oxygen therapy, and various medications.

Erin’s parents subsequently disclosed that their daughter’s medical condition was re-evaluated “multiple times” prior to her safe discharge from the hospital.
