Fitness Coach Dies at 30 After Extreme Weight Gain Challenge
Russian Dmitry Nuyanzin, a fitness professional, passed away at the age of 30 after participating in an extreme eating challenge designed to promote a new weight management initiative.
Multiple reports, as translated by the Daily Mail, indicate that Nuyanzin suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while attempting to rapidly gain 50 pounds through a daily intake of 10,000 calories. Once this 50-pound target was met, Nuyanzin reportedly intended to showcase his ability to quickly shed the added weight.
Several weeks into the endeavor, Nuyanzin cancelled his coaching appointments after experiencing discomfort, according to local news sources in Orenburg. He died in his sleep. The Daily Mail further reported that he has since been interred.
Nuyanzin was an alumnus of the Orenburg Olympic Reserve School and the National Fitness University in St Petersburg, and before his passing, he worked as a private coach for Russian athletes.

“What are the effects of consuming 10,000 kilocalories daily?” Nuyanzin queried in an Instagram caption on September 15. He consistently shared updates on his challenge's progress across his social media platforms.
A translated statement revealed him telling his audience, “I am presently increasing my weight for my upcoming weight-reduction program, and this outlines my daily 10,000-calorie intake.” He specified, “My breakfast consists of a large portion of pastries and half a cake. For my midday meal, I typically consume 800 grams of dumplings complemented by mayonnaise.”
He further elaborated, “Throughout the day, I might snack on potato chips, and my evening meal involves a burger and two personal pizzas, either consumed at an eatery or ordered for delivery.”
Nuyanzin's final Instagram update was posted on November 18.

The video showed Nuyanzin caressing his distended abdomen and also depicted him consuming a packet of potato chips. He informed his followers he had attained a weight of 231 pounds, indicating an approximate gain of 28 pounds within a single month.
Nuyanzin furthermore seemed to extend this challenge to his audience, structuring it as a competition.

Numerous followers have since expressed their grief over Nuyanzin’s passing in comments.
