Former Child Star Tylor Chase Receives Support from Former Co-Stars and Community

Mighty Ducks actor Shaun Weiss is attempting to provide assistance to former Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide star Tylor Chase.

“I have been receiving numerous messages concerning Tylor Chase. I contacted several friends, and we have arranged accommodation for him … and we have a place for him to reside … thanks to my friend Mike Jordan at Eleven 11 Recovery,” Weiss, 47, stated in a video shared via Instagram on Monday, December 22. “All that is required is to locate him. I am not located in Los Angeles, or I would personally go searching for him.”

Following a tip suggesting Chase, 36, might be experiencing homelessness in Riverside, California, Weiss requested that if anyone could speak with the former child actor, “Please send me a direct message so we can secure him some support in time for the holidays.”

While the Riverside Police Department was unaware of how long Chase has been without stable housing, they confirmed to Us Weekly on Tuesday, December 23, that “officers assigned to our Public Safety Engagement Team maintain regular communication with him, at least once weekly, and consistently present a range of resources, including assistance with temporary shelter options. Throughout these interactions, he has been polite and cooperative with our officers.”

Recently, a distressing video appeared on social media depicting Chase without a home at an undisclosed location.

The footage garnered the attention of many admirers, including fellow Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide actor Devon Werkheiser.

“Tylor was a sensitive, kind, and gentle young man. It is deeply saddening to witness him in this condition,” Werkheiser, 34, told TMZ in an interview published on Monday. “I haven’t connected with Tylor in almost 20 years since the show concluded. Anyone familiar with severe addiction and profound mental health challenges understands it’s an incredibly difficult situation when someone is unwilling to accept help. It’s a daily struggle to improve, and it necessitates considerable support, patience, and time.”

Chase portrayed middle school student Martin Qwerly on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide throughout the Nickelodeon show’s three-season run between 2004 and 2007.

His other acting credits include a performance on Everybody Hates Chris and a role in the 2007 independent film Good Time Max with James Franco.

“My only aspiration is that this exposure leads to someone with genuine understanding and resources stepping in, getting Tylor into treatment, and assisting him in getting back on track,” Werkheiser shared. “We all desire a positive outcome.”

In a separate post, comedian Loni Love also expressed her hopes that Chase receives the assistance he deserves.

“I collaborated with Tylor on Ned’s many years ago,” she wrote via Instagram on Monday. “He was a bright young person, and it’s heartbreaking to see him in this state. Thank you @shaunweiss and team for offering support to Tylor… will keep everyone informed about locating him. It may be challenging to persuade him to accept help, but we can only hope.”

As admirers await positive news, Shipwreck Barbershop owner Jacob Harris — who is based in the Riverside area — posted that he encountered Chase and provided him with some encouragement.

“Located him. Spent an hour with him while his father and several former colleagues called him on my phone,” Harris claimed via Instagram on Monday. “They conveyed their affection for him and how much they want/need him to agree to receiving help. He is now in contact with all the appropriate individuals to obtain the support he requires. He has a hotel room for tonight to allow him time to make his own decision.”
