Francesca Scorsese Shares Heartwarming TikTok Amid Mother Helen Morris' Parkinson's Battle
Francesca Scorsese, daughter of acclaimed director Martin Scorsese, offered a heartfelt glimpse into her bond with her mother, Helen Morris, who is living with Parkinson’s disease.
On Tuesday, September 2, Francesca, 25, uploaded a TikTok video featuring herself and Morris, who wed the esteemed director of The Departed in 1999, where she tenderly assisted her mother with a meal.
“Remember to express your love to your parents, as there will come a time when you’ll be called upon to care for them just as they once cared for you,” Francesca penned in the video’s overlay. Her accompanying caption for the post read, “Health should never be taken for granted,” followed by five hashtags, notably #parkinsonsawareness and #martinscorsese.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Parkinson’s disease is defined as a “progressive nervous system disorder affecting movement that deteriorates over time.”

The footage showed Francesca, Morris’ sole offspring, gently pushing her mother’s hair back, helping her drink, softly caressing Morris’ arm, and then spoon-feeding her from a plate. (Martin also has two other daughters, Cathy, 59, and Domenica, 48, from his prior marriages to Laraine Brennan and Julia Cameron, respectively.)
The short film concludes with Francesca sharing a moment of laughter with her mother and an unseen individual at the table, just before she stops recording.
Morris received her Parkinson’s diagnosis over three decades ago; Martin spoke candidly about his wife's health struggles and lauded her enduring strength on a February 2024 installment of the “This Life of Mine with James Corden” podcast.
“She has been living with Parkinson's disease for approximately 30 years,” Martin remarked during the interview. “My expressions of discontent are often tied to my creative process and tend to be self-critical. However, I realize my grievances pale in comparison to the immense suffering caused by such an illness, and thus we navigate it, and it profoundly alters one’s perspective on life and all that encompasses it.”

Morris has consistently stood by her husband at various public engagements throughout the years. In January 2024, she joined Martin and Francesca for photographs on the Golden Globes red carpet, where Cathy and Domenica also attended with the family.
Additionally, Morris attended the 2023 Cannes Film Festival premiere of Killers of the Flower Moon in France with her family, where both Martin and Francesca provided support by holding her arms as she navigated the red carpet.
