From Instant Spark to Final Farewell: A Timeline of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Romance
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban both hail from Australia, yet the pair initially connected and developed feelings for each other far from their homeland.
Kidman and Urban initially encountered one another at the G’Day USA Gala – a celebration recognizing Australians residing in Los Angeles – in 2005. Kidman felt an instant attraction to the country musician, however Urban needed more time to reciprocate.
“I recall thinking I had a significant fondness for him, and he wasn’t showing interest in me,” Kidman shared with Ellen DeGeneres in 2017. “It’s a fact! He didn’t reach out to me for four months.”
Urban described being in an “unfavorable state of mind” when he first met the Big Little Lies star, which led him to delay contacting her. Eventually, Urban initiated contact, and the couple ultimately married in June 2006.
They have since welcomed two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, and have become each other’s most ardent champions. (Kidman is also the mother of Isabella and Conner, whom she adopted with former husband Tom Cruise.)
In September 2025, Us Weekly verified that the couple had gone their separate ways following almost two decades together. Their divorce was officially concluded in a Nashville courtroom in January 2026.
