From platonic co-stars to red carpet romance, Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman find love after The Music Man.
The relationship between Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman began as purely platonic before developing into a romance.
While Foster and Jackman were acquainted through the Broadway community, their bond strengthened significantly after being cast in the 2022 revival of The Music Man. Working together on stage for more than a year, Foster and Jackman became very close.
“He has an impeccable reputation for being the most dedicated man, extraordinarily kind, and generous—and all of those qualities are true. He makes everyone feel comfortable, and he never draws attention to himself,” Foster lauded her costar in a June 2022 interview with Vogue. “And he has now become one of my closest companions, which came as a surprise, because you typically approach these projects hoping, ‘Well, I hope we get along.’ But we recently celebrated Memorial Day with our families. It’s genuinely enjoyable to forge new friendships after turning 40.”
Both Jackman and Foster were involved in other relationships when they initially met. Jackman was married to his long-time partner Deborra-Lee Furness, while Foster was wed to Ted Griffin. In September 2023, Jackman and Furness announced their separation after nearly three decades of marriage. The following year, Foster filed for divorce from Griffin.

In November 2024, Us Weekly reported that Jackman ended his marriage to Furness due to the actor’s “relationship” with Foster.

Weeks later, Sutton attended the NYC premiere of Song Sung Blue, co-starring Jackman and Kate Hudson. The couple posed for photographs during their appearance on December 11. Sutton selected a satin minidress featuring jewel embellishments and matching embellished flats, while Jackman opted for a standard dark suit.
