After years as one of Hollywood's most eligible single men, George Clooney found his soulmate in the brilliant and beautiful human rights barrister, Amal Clooney. However, Amal initially needed some time to fully believe in the seriousness of their blossoming relationship.
“Marriage was never a topic of discussion during our courtship, and my proposal came as a complete surprise,” George shared with CBS in November 2020. “Her acceptance didn't come quickly. I remained knelt for what felt like twenty minutes. Eventually, I quipped, ‘Seriously, I'm going to injure my hip.’ When we recounted this to her parents, their primary concern was, ‘Is there an issue with his hip?’”
Their initial encounter occurred in Lake Como, Italy, during 2013. Their inaugural date took place in London subsequent to that year. The couple exchanged vows in a dream-like ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande Hotel in Venice, Italy, in September 2014.
Though starting a family wasn't their immediate intention, Us Weekly verified in February 2017 that they were anticipating children. The couple greeted their twins, Alexander and Ella, into the world in June 2017.
