Giuffre Memoir's Release Spurs King Charles to Strip Prince Andrew of Titles and Royal Lodge

The recently published memoir by Virginia Giuffre, released after her death, proved to be the decisive factor for King Charles III regarding the persistent sexual assault allegations against his brother, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

According to an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, royal commentator Christopher Andersen revealed significant friction between the two royals, particularly concerning the Royal Lodge residence. However, the publication of Nobody’s Girl earlier this month prompted the 76-year-old Charles to take action.

Giuffre initially brought sexual assault charges against Andrew, 65, in 2019, asserting a sexual encounter occurred in 2001 when she was a minor. She filed a lawsuit against Andrew for sexual abuse in 2021, leading to an out-of-court settlement the subsequent year. Andrew has consistently maintained his innocence regarding all accusations.

Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide in April at 41, detailed further accusations against both Andrew and the deceased, convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein within her book.

The Tumultuous Events in Prince Andrew's Life Preceding the Revocation of His Royal Status

Andersen further discussed with Us the potential that the monarch possesses additional information concerning Andrew and Epstein's historical association.

“One cannot shake the sense that there's more to this story — something even more detrimental that would compel the king to implement such severe measures,” Andersen asserted to Us, adding that he anticipates “further revelations.”

On Thursday, October 30, Buckingham Palace declared that Charles had initiated the formal procedure to divest Andrew of all “courtesy titles, privileges, and distinctions” and removed him from Royal Lodge.

Prince Andrew will henceforth be identified as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the statement issued on Thursday indicated. “His tenancy at Royal Lodge had, until recently, granted him legal entitlement to remain there. A formal notice has now been delivered to terminate this lease, and he will relocate to different private lodgings.”

Both he and his former spouse, Sarah Ferguson, who faced eviction as well, have resided at Royal Lodge without charge for 22 years, under a lease permitting their stay until 2078. Us has learned that Andrew is expected to move to Sandringham Estate without delay.

The Reasons Behind Prince Andrew's Title Revocation: The Impetus for the King's Decision

Charles's determination arises amidst Andrew's sustained media attention concerning the Giuffre controversy and his purported ties to Epstein.

“These disciplinary actions are considered imperative, despite his ongoing denials of the accusations,” the palace’s statement concluded on Thursday. “Their Majesties wish to express unequivocally that their compassion and profoundest sympathies have always been, and will continue to be, with all victims and survivors of abuse.”

Andersen hypothesized to Us that the British Parliament exerted “considerable pressure” on Charles to act regarding his brother. “And now, he has indeed acted,” the royal expert further remarked.

Giuffre's relatives issued a statement after Thursday's announcements concerning Andrew.

In a statement provided to Us on Thursday, Sky Roberts, Amanda Roberts, Danny Wilson, and Lanette Wilson conveyed that “a typical American girl from a typical American household, through her honesty and exceptional bravery, brought down a British prince.”

“Our sister, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who was a child when sexually assaulted by Andrew, relentlessly pursued justice for herself and for numerous other survivors,” the statement went on to say. “Today, she claims triumph.”

They concluded, “Her family, alongside her fellow survivors, will carry on Virginia's struggle and will not cease until equivalent accountability is applied to all perpetrators and enablers associated with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.”
