Kate and Jon Gosselin have garnered public attention for over ten years.

The estranged pair, united in matrimony in 1999, brought their household into the public eye after welcoming their sextuplets: Alexis, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Leah, and Aaden. This ten-member family — as Jon and Kate are also parents to twins Mady and Cara — starred in their dedicated reality show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, which aired between 2007 and 2017.

Marital strain between Jon and Kate was evident throughout the series, stemming from their differing philosophies on parenting. In May 2009, Us Weekly reported that Jon was rumored to have committed infidelity. Kate initiated divorce proceedings a month subsequent to that revelation.

Their marital dissolution was concluded in December 2009. Kate received complete legal guardianship of the children, and despite sharing physical custody, they persisted in their dispute concerning Collin for numerous years.
