Hairstylist Chrissy Rasmussen Faces TikTok Backlash Over $4,000 Hair Controversy
Chrissy Rasmussen, the force behind Hair by Chrissy, achieved widespread internet recognition before a surge of viral TikTok controversies swept the platform.
The seasoned hairstylist — boasting over 27 years of professional experience — is the owner of Habit Salon, which operates locations in both Arizona and California, serving as a sought-after destination for prominent influencers and well-known celebrities alike.
Rasmussen garnered significant media attention in November when a content creator, known online as @NotFamous808, detailed an alleged negative encounter at the salon, claiming, among other things, that she was charged more than $4,000 for her hair, which the hairstylist purportedly had minimal involvement with.
The video, which has accumulated over 28 million views, has incited criticism from social media users who contend the cost is excessive — particularly given Rasmussen's alleged limited presence during the service.
While Rasmussen has not yet directly addressed the controversy, she appeared to respond through a series of videos posted to her TikTok Story, sharing a clip of herself working on extensions before stepping away and having an employee complete the task. “Chrissy doing hair,” the video was captioned. Us Weekly contacted Rasmussen for a statement.

Who Is Hair by Chrissy’s Chrissy Rasmussen?
Rasmussen has been active in the profession for nearly three decades. Reflecting on her professional journey, Rasmussen explained in an Iles Formula Q&A that she had considered pursuing a career in the hair industry — a notion her friend helped solidify.
“One day my friend called me and said she was signing up for hair school, so I thought to myself … ‘why not.’ So to be honest I fell into it by chance,” she recounted. “Quickly after graduating from school, I found that there is so much satisfaction in working with people and helping people become more confident.”
She continued, “I would not say this is easy, but it is well worth it. I have been told and I love the analogy that hair dressing is a 4 year degree. Meaning, you are in school for 2 years, 3rd year you are assisting and working long hours but learning a lot. Then your 4th year, often stylists get on the floor, but it is still a year of learning. Then it is truly starting that 5th year after your 4 year degree where you feel comfortable and start to build a clientele. In my case, I assisted for 3 years, but that was more common 20 years ago.”
