Hairstylist to the Stars Faces Backlash Over $4,000 Hair Service Controversy
You might have seen Chrissy Rasmussen's Hair by Chrissy on your TikTok For You Page even before its recent controversy, but now it's the buzz among internet regulars.
The online uproar started after TikTok user @notfamous808 publicly criticized Rasmussen over what she claimed was a disappointing salon visit, where she reportedly paid almost $3,000 for the stylist to purportedly handle her hair for merely a minute.
The influencer asserted in the video — which has accumulated over 26.9 million views since its upload earlier in the month — that her total expenditure exceeded $4,000.
“Seriously, for $4,000, you could have enjoyed a month-long trip to Italy,” commented one user, with another chiming in, “Imagining dropping $4,000 for a hair treatment …” A third individual stated, “Absolutely not. If you spent $4,000, your satisfaction should have been absolute.”
Us Weekly contacted Rasmussen to request a statement.

Exploring Hair by Chrissy and the Identity of Chrissy Rasmussen
With over 27 years in the industry, Rasmussen is the proprietor of Habit Salon, operating branches in Arizona and California, providing services such as haircuts, extensions, and coloring. The renowned stylist boasts over 1.5 million Instagram followers, showcasing transformation videos of her clientele. Her client roster includes notable figures such as Next Gen NYC's Ariana Biermann and social media personalities like Dixie D’Amelio, who have all visited her salon.
The Experience of TikTok Creator @notfamous808 at Hair by Chrissy: A Breakdown
The online personality started documenting her salon experience at the beginning of the month, detailing her desire for extensions, color, and a trim. @Notfamous808 alleged that Rasmussen herself was “absent” from the salon, and she was instead attended to by over ten different staff members.
The influencer presented tangible proof, displaying a screenshot of the invoice she received post-service. In addition to costs for a serum, detangler, and other items, @Notfamous808 was charged $2,974 for the “Chrissy service” — which she asserted was “solely the fee for Chrissy to physically interact with her hair.” The purported bill amounted to $4,216.61.
“Paying such a high price for the service was somewhat disappointing,” the influencer commented, stating that the encounter “fell short of what I anticipated.”
In another TikTok post, @notfamous808 asserted that Rasmussen guaranteed to style her hair to resemble her chosen inspiration picture — provided the content creator acquired new extensions directly from the salon. The influencer further claimed she was “unaware” of purchasing the listed products, including shampoo, on her invoice.
The influencer further stated through TikTok in December 2025 that she discovered a “patch of hair loss and a lesion” on her scalp subsequent to removing her extensions.
Chrissy Rasmussen's Response to the Hair by Chrissy Controversy
Rasmussen has not yet released an official statement concerning the unfolding situation. (Us Weekly had requested a comment.) Nevertheless, she appears to have indirectly addressed the backlash by posting several videos on her TikTok story. One video showed Rasmussen playfully sticking out her tongue while working on extensions, then departing and allowing a staff member to complete the task. The caption read, “Chrissy doing hair.”
Another video depicted Rasmussen giving a client a haircut, with the caption, “Chrissy cuts.” A third snippet featured Rasmussen curling a section of hair and smiling at the camera, captioned, “She curls.”
@Notfamous808 subsequently addressed these videos in her own TikTok, acknowledging that Rasmussen indeed performs those services — but clarified that “the issue is she completes just one curl and then leaves.”
The situation escalated further when Rasmussen posted a picture of a T-shirt emblazoned with the phrase, “Hair in 4k,” indicating that “merchandise [is] on its way soon,” as reported by The Cut. In response, @Notfamous808 commented on the apparel in a TikTok, exclaiming, “That is genuinely outrageous. My goodness, what have I gotten myself into?” The content creator then launched her own line of merchandise, featuring a sweatshirt with the statement, “Kindness Is Worth More Than 4K.”
Celebrity Reactions to the Hair by Chrissy Controversy
A number of content creators and public figures have weighed in on the Hair by Chrissy saga. Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston, for instance, remarked that $4,000 for hair “appears to be a considerable sum” but pondered if current inflation rates were a factor in the cost.
“I have reservations regarding her clientele, who, at least from online appearances, seem quite young and potentially vulnerable to exploitation,” Thurston claimed in a TikTok, further questioning in the caption, “Should we discuss the #hairbychrissy controversy? Is $4k excessive for hair? Or am I simply ‘out of touch’ to grasp that this is precisely what individuals in their twenties are prepared to spend?”
