Harry Wounded by Paris Backlash Targeting Meghan
Prince Harry is reportedly "distressed" by the backlash directed at his wife, Meghan Markle, following her visit to Paris at the start of the month.
Us Weekly has learned that Harry, aged 41, consistently prioritizes safeguarding his spouse and their offspring from what he perceives as inaccurate or malicious narratives driven by ulterior motives.
According to a Monday, October 13 report from the Daily Mail, Harry felt “wounded and disheartened” after allegations surfaced that Meghan deliberately positioned her feet up while traveling through Paris, close to the Pont d’Alma tunnel — the site of Princess Diana's fatal accident in 1997.
“Harry experienced deep hurt and dismay. Diana's passing was weaponized against his wife. [Meghan] never even came near the tunnel,” an insider informed the publication. “The entire situation is absurd, yet deeply unfunny for Harry.”

The insider further commented, “He was left feeling pained, but the saddening aspect is his lack of surprise. He felt more disheartened than taken aback.”
Meghan, 44, visited France for Paris Fashion Week, marking her inaugural attendance on October 4. A representative for the Duchess of Sussex informed Us then that her presence was to endorse Pierpaolo Piccioli, Balenciaga's Creative Director.
“Throughout the years, the Duchess has favored several of Pierpaolo's creations. They have partnered closely on design collaborations for significant global occasions,” the statement conveyed. “She has consistently appreciated his artistry and contemporary sophistication, and this evening exemplified that.”
Her spokesperson further stated, “This event signifies the peak of a long-standing artistic partnership and camaraderie, evident in her backing of his fresh creative role at Balenciaga.”
This presentation marked Piccioli's debut in his recently appointed position.
“This represents a fresh era for fashion, and one can only alter the conventions from within. I believe we can present a novel vision of fashion centered on confidence, compassion, and intellect, qualities often lacking,” Piccioli, who took over from Demna, shared with Vogue in May. “Balenciaga already has an established following. My intention is to embrace that following and the essence of Balenciaga, to contribute my unique segment to its ongoing narrative.”
While this Parisian visit marked Meghan's initial fashion week appearance in the city, she had previously been to comparable events in Toronto and New York during her acting career. Meghan resided in Canada during the production of the popular series Suits, which she exited after its seventh season concluded in 2018.

The Duchess possesses a enduring passion for fashion and has also advocated for sporting independent and emerging labels. “On occasions when I am aware of global scrutiny, and that every aspect of my attire will be scrutinized, I choose to champion designers with whom I share strong personal connections,” Meghan stated to The New York Times in August 2024, further noting her belief in promoting brands “that haven't yet received the recognition they deserve.”
She concluded, “That stands as one of the most impactful actions I can undertake, merely by donning something as simple as an earring.”
