Heather Gay plans to steer clear of Jen Shah following her prison release.
Heather Gay discusses whether she intends to meet with Jen Shah following Shah's recent release from prison.
“While Salt Lake City is compact, I personally, along with others, have managed to steer clear of individuals we prefer not to encounter," Heather, 51, stated during a December 12 appearance on the “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay” podcast. "Therefore, I anticipate our paths won't intersect.”
Jen departed from the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, on December 10, having completed less than three years of her initial six-and-a-half-year sentence.
She and her former assistant, Stuart Smith, were taken into custody in March 2021 regarding their involvement in a nationwide telemarketing fraud operation that targeted numerous victims aged 55 and older. Initially, Jen denied any wrongdoing and entered a not guilty plea regarding accusations of conspiracy to commit wire fraud linked to telemarketing and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

She ultimately changed her plea to guilty one year later. “Between 2012 and March 2021 in the Southern District of New York and other locations, I conspired with others to commit wire fraud,” Shah stated at the time. “I recognized this was unethical. I was aware that many individuals were hurt, and I deeply regret it.” Us Weekly confirmed in January 2023 that Shah received a sentence of six and a half years behind bars.
“Everyone appreciates the Bureau of Prisons' decision, particularly as it enables Jen to rejoin her family for the festive season," Shah’s manager, Chris Giovanni, told People in a statement after the reduction in Jen's sentence was announced. "This is a privilege she truly values.”
“She utilized her time away for significant reflection and personal development and has truly changed from the person she once was. Her current priority is her family and establishing a more stable and healthier existence,” the statement continued. “She recognizes the severity of her past errors and looks forward to closing this chapter, demonstrating to everyone the individual she has striven to become.”
Tensions between Jen and Heather have been present since at least January 24, when Heather alleged that Jen was the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City castmate responsible for giving her a black eye during production. Heather leveled this charge during the season 4 conclusion of the reality program.
During a confrontation with Monica Garcia regarding her alleged connection to the Instagram profile Reality Von Tease, Heather drew parallels between her castmate and Jen. “I supported her during my book tour and faced criticism for defending her even though she was responsible for my black eye,” Heather elaborated.
As the others looked taken aback and bewildered, she continued, “I was intensely loyal to [Jen] and had to cover up for her. We will not repeat this pattern with you,” before instructing Monica to depart.

Jen responded to the accusation on January 3 through her Instagram Story.
“BRAVO, if I struck Heather in the eye, you would possess video evidence to confirm it,” she wrote per People. “Evidently, the show depends on me, as my name was mentioned at the start, middle, and end of season 4.”
