Heather Rae El Moussa Reveals Couples Counseling and Family Plans with Tarek

Heather Rae El Moussa is opening up about her marriage to husband Tarek El Moussa, including discussions around the possibility of growing their family further.

“We are parents to two children part-time,” Heather, 37, shared during the Friday, September 12, installment of the “Penthouse With Peta” podcast. “Our schedules are already quite stretched. [I believe he feels] a strong desire to dedicate ample time and focus to each child and to us as a couple … Our daily routines are truly hectic, incredibly busy. Yet, for my part, I tend to think, ‘We’ll manage it. Yes, it’s hectic, yes, it’s busy. But we find immense happiness in parenthood. It’s the greatest delight of our existence.’”

Heather revealed that she and Tarek, 44, were constantly together before their son Tristan arrived in 2023. (Tarek is additionally a father to daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 10, from his previous marriage with Christina Haack.)

“Following Tristan’s birth, I am typically at home with the infant, while he is with his older children, then heads to his office and travels for professional engagements, leaving me at home. Before Tristan’s arrival, I had also envisioned accompanying him on various trips and business ventures,” she stated. “However, after he was born, I realized, ‘Absolutely not. I'm staying home. I'm nursing. I'm rooted here.’ I’m currently embracing a more domestic, caregiving period, whereas he remains in a highly active, constantly moving mode.”

She added, “This situation caused a certain distance in our relationship. We’ve had to find our way back to each other, re-establishing our bond and resolving issues because we were accustomed to constant togetherness. … It simply felt atypical for us. We're essentially navigating those difficulties.”

Heather disclosed that she and Tarek attend couples counseling sessions “bi-weekly” face-to-face.

“We aren't attending frequently,” Heather commented. “I believe we ought to go more regularly because often, the sessions assist us in communicating through minor disagreements where … it’s frankly trivial. It's as if he was experiencing one situation, and I was experiencing another. We could have simply discussed it. It wouldn't have escalated to the extent it did.”

When questioned about how she and Tarek “maintain intimacy,” Heather playfully responded, “To be frank, we are quite active in that aspect. He is a fortunate individual. He might attempt to suggest otherwise. However, I discuss it with my acquaintances, and they react with, ‘Oh, my goodness. You really are?’ To which I reply, ‘Yes, absolutely.’”
