Hilaria Baldwin Reveals Why The Family Is Leaving New York For A Fresh Start In Los Angeles
A significant change might be looming for Hilaria and Alec Baldwin.
“We no longer wish to raise our children in the Hamptons,” Hilaria, 41, revealed to Gurus magazine in an interview published on Tuesday, December 16, disclosing that she and her husband Alec, 67, are considering relocating from New York.
The former Dancing With the Stars contestant added, “We are thinking about L.A. It’s all about seeking new energy — a reset.”
Hilaria and Alec have seven children together: Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 5, María, 4, and Ilaria, 2. The 30 Rock star also has an older daughter, Ireland, 30, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
Alec Baldwin's Thoughts on Wife Hilaria Joining ‘DWTS’ Season 34
Alec and Hilaria have experienced several difficult years as they managed the consequences of the 2021 Rust shooting, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died when a live round discharged from a revolver Alec was using as a prop on set.
The actor initially pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in February 2023, and the charge was subsequently dropped. However, he was re-indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges in January 2024 and entered a second not guilty plea. Alec’s trial commenced in July 2024, but the charges were dismissed with prejudice after only three days when prosecutors were accused of withholding evidence.
Separately, the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and received an 18-month prison sentence. She was released in May.
In her discussion with Gurus, Hilaria reflected on the anxieties she felt during the trial.
“At one point, I recall thinking, ‘What if Alec doesn’t return home after the trial? What would I do?” she stated.
Alec previously spoke about how his children helped him through the trial during a December 5 appearance on The Adam Friedland Show.
“I am 67 years old, I have a 3-year-old baby, so I have many children at home … and they saved my life,” he explained. “You reach a point where you think less about where you receive affection than where you provide it. One of the more challenging and painful experiences in life is [when] you lack someone to give your love to.”
Alec continued, “I have abundant love to give, and I have all these kids around me constantly, and I haven't really … been very busy for the past three and a half years. I was home full-time, and they rescued me. They saved my life.”

Hilaria also received support from Alec and their children during her participation in Dancing With the Stars season 34.
“He is such a great supporter. He provides excellent support, and I am extremely thankful to have him,” she exclusively told Us Weekly after her elimination during week 4 in October. “He always tells me, ‘You’ve stood by me through numerous challenges, so I am here to support you through this.’ It has been an amazing experience.”
She added, “Everyone has been so supportive of me. Any mother understands how much we care for them; not only do we often give birth to them—though I have entered motherhood through various avenues, as I'm sure others have—but we get up with them, endure difficult nights, worry about them, and support them through everything. Seeing my children in the audience supporting me, and then seeing them cry afterward, truly broke my heart.”
