Hilary Gumbel, spouse of Bryant Gumbel, appears to be commenting on his recent medical incident.
Reports indicate that the much-loved former Today show anchor, aged 77, was admitted to the hospital following a “medical emergency.”
Nonetheless, Bryant seems to be recovering, as Hilary conveyed an optimistic sentiment on Wednesday, October 22, subsequent to the news becoming public.
On her Instagram Story, Bryant’s partner uploaded an image showing sunlight filtering through an autumn-hued tree, accompanying it with the single word “gratitude.”

According to TMZ, Bryant was taken from his Manhattan residence to a nearby hospital after 9 p.m. on Monday, October 20.
The publication further stated that he remained hospitalized through Tuesday, and a family member confirmed Bryant was “OK.”
Additional information regarding his medical incident has not yet been disclosed.
Bryant commenced his tenure on NBC’s Today in 1982, remaining there for 15 years prior to his move to CBS in 1997.
Following his separation from his first spouse, June Baranco, he wed Hilary, an Emmy-winning producer, in 2002. Bryant and Baranco, married from 1973 to 2001, are parents to two children, Bradley and Jillian.
Bryant disclosed in 2009 that he had surgery to excise a malignant tumor and a section of his lung.
“There’s no need to conceal it,” he stated then on Live With Regis and Kelly. “My chest was opened, a malignant tumor was removed, along with a portion of my lung and some other elements. While most of the pathological findings were benign, a sufficient number of aggressive cells had spread from the tumor, necessitating treatment, which I underwent, and it is now complete.”

The subsequent year, the ex-cohost provided an update on his recuperation to his audience.
“My health continues to be good,” he informed People. “Physicians assure me I am in the clear, and I anticipate more positive periods ahead.”
This past June, Bryant bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award upon Today cohost Al Roker at the 2025 News & Documentary Emmy Awards.

His sibling, veteran CBS sportscaster Greg Gumbel, passed away in December 2024 at 78 years old following a struggle with cancer.
His demise was confirmed by Greg’s wife, Marcy, and daughter, Michelle.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the departure of our cherished husband and father, Greg Gumbel,” their statement declared. “He departed peacefully, enveloped in affection, after a valiant fight against cancer. Greg confronted his sickness with the composure, elegance, and optimism one would anticipate.”
His family and friends further commented, “He leaves a heritage of affection, encouragement, and commitment from more than five decades of remarkable work in sports broadcasting; and his recognizable voice will endure. Greg’s remembrance will always be cherished by his family, closest companions, associates, and everyone who held him dear.”
