A grim discovery has prompted the Los Angeles Police Department to initiate a death investigation.

Law enforcement officials informed Us Weekly that on Monday, September 8, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue in Hollywood, following reports of "a strong, unpleasant smell emanating from a vehicle at a tow yard."

According to KTLA, the vehicle had been impounded from the Hollywood Hills approximately a week prior, after being reported as deserted.

Overhead views from the local news channel depicted police caution tape surrounding the Tesla, as well as several other vehicles in the impound facility. A white tent was also erected in the vicinity.

Given the state of decomposition, the sex of the presumed victim remains unidentified for now.

Sources including TMZ and KABC indicated that the vehicle is registered in Hempstead, Texas, under the name of David Anthony Burke, recognized artistically as D4vd.

Conversely, police informed Us, stating, “Details regarding the vehicle or its proprietor are not available to us.” Us has contacted D4vd’s representative for an official statement.
