Influencer Haley Kalil Reveals Domestic Violence Experience and How Online Support Helped Her Escape
Influencer Haley Kalil (also known as Hayley Baylee) is sharing details about her experiences with domestic violence — and how her online presence aided her in escaping an abusive former partner.“I’ve faced, naturally, as many women have, a lot of emotional distress in relationships, infidelity, and similar issues. However, one of my exes was physically violent,” Kalil, 33, stated during the Tuesday, January 6, episode of Amanda Hirsch’s “Not Skinny but Not Fat” podcast, revealing that she was in this harmful relationship when she posted her initial viral TikTok video, a tour of a New York City apartment, in 2022.
“That’s what I was going through while filming the apartment tour,” she continued, “And that’s why, in my first [‘Billionaire Boyfriend’ video], I have a cast on my wrist, because, yes, it was domestic violence.” (Kalil’s apartment tour served as inspiration for her to create a fictional series where she portrayed herself as the stay-at-home girlfriend of a wealthy individual.)Kalil mentioned that she ultimately filed domestic violence charges against her ex, whose name she did not disclose on the podcast.Mormon Wives’ Mayci Neeley Speaks Out About Surviving Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault“And things are good. I mean, he hasn’t re-entered my life. I’m truly grateful for that,” she said. “I hope, I honestly hope, and I say this sincerely, that he observes the success I’ve achieved since then, because he seemed to harbor a genuine dislike for women, likely stemming from his own past [and] that he recognizes the need to treat women better because we are capable of far more than he ever imagined.”Kalil described the relationship as a “difficult period” in her life and credited the women in the comment sections of her videos with providing her with the courage to leave her ex.“I owe them a debt for saving my life. Completely and absolutely. Because I never felt acknowledged by women,” she said, adding that the supportive comments from fans led her to “remove a man from my life who was inflicting terrible harm on me.”Haley’s apartment tour video appeared shortly after her divorce from ex-husband Matt Kalil, which was finalized in 2022. However, the social media personality has made it clear to her followers that she is not referring to Matt, 36, when she discusses toxic exes or domestic violence in her videos.“We were married for seven years, and he remains one of my closest friends,” she said during a June 2024 episode of the “Post Run High” podcast. “I care about him deeply. He has a child [and I’m] so happy for him.” (Following his divorce from Haley, Matt married model Keilani Asmus in 2024. The couple share one son.)In November 2025, Haley shared details about why her marriage to the former NFL player ended, generating headlines for the explicit reason: issues related to sexual compatibility.“[This occurred] throughout our marriage,” she said during a Twitch livestream. “I explored various options — therapy, medical consultations [and I] researched surgical procedures, you know what I mean? That’s why it’s somewhat comical. It’s like my life is a comedy, and it practically writes itself.”Haley continued, “It was, like, he was in the top .01 percent of the population. We attempted everything [and it was] impossible unless you were going to be constantly upset.”The TikToker later clarified that there was more to their divorce than difficulties in their intimate life.“I am committed to respecting his privacy and the integrity of what we shared together,” she told TMZ Sports in a statement. “During [my] livestream, [I] discussed so much more than what’s being emphasized — the affection in our marriage, the growth we experienced, the depth of our connection.”Haley continued, “It’s unfortunate that only one aspect is being highlighted because it doesn’t reflect the complete story of how significant things were to me. I hope [the] hour-and-a-half-long conversation conveys more than a memorable soundbite.”If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 for confidential support.
