Influencer Tang Feiji Dies in Live-Streamed Plane Crash Amid Wave of Content Creator Losses

The content creator Tang Feiji has passed away at 55, following an airplane crash during a live broadcast.

Reports from various news sources indicate that Feiji was filming on Saturday, September 27, while piloting an aircraft and reportedly lost control. The livestream footage shows Feiji taking off and flying before the vehicle abruptly descended to the ground and burst into flames.

Chinese news outlet Cover News reported that hundreds of viewers were watching the live broadcast when Feiji's accident occurred. According to the publication, officials confirmed that the crash caused no damage to the surrounding area.

Multiple outlets have noted that Feiji's social media account was made private after his death. He had accumulated approximately 100,000 followers on Douyin, a Chinese social media platform.

In videos posted before his demise, the creator allegedly mentioned paying 350,000 Chinese Yuan — roughly $49,000 — for the aircraft. China News Service (CNS), a state-owned news agency, reported that the single-seat vehicle weighed over 250 pounds.

CNS claimed that Feiji stated the aircraft could reach altitudes of about 2,000 feet and travel at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. After six hours of practice, Feiji asserted he had mastered the vehicle's controls, as per the outlet.

Feiji had previously encountered problems with the same vehicle. Cover News documented two incidents in 2024 where Feiji's aircraft dropped less than 30 feet due to a fuel gauge malfunction.

The announcement of Feiji's death emerged alongside news that influencer Paola Caldera passed away at 30 after a struggle with leukemia. Her family confirmed her death via a TikTok post.

“Today we say goodbye to an individual who brightened our lives with their strength, their affection, and their wisdom, even through the toughest times,” Caldera’s family shared earlier in the month.

The message continued, “Leukemia may have limited her physical presence, but it could never erase the impact she made on our hearts. We are left with her inspiring courage, her boundless kindness, and memories that will forever stay with us. Rest in peace, Paola Caldera, your light will continue to illuminate each of us.”

Caldera began chronicling her life as a mother of two on social media, gathering over 100,000 followers on TikTok since 2023. (Her two sons were 8 and 3 years old when she passed away.)

The following year, Caldera announced on Instagram that she had been “recently diagnosed” with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia — a rapidly progressing cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow by producing immature or non-functional blood cells, as defined by the Mayo Clinic.

At that time, Caldera appealed to her followers and “anyone with a compassionate heart” to contribute to her GoFundMe campaign to help cover her medical expenses.

“I am seeking your support in this fight that we are determined to win,” Caldera wrote back then. “Every small contribution, every donation will make a significant difference, allowing my family to manage what’s necessary and concentrate on what’s most crucial: my recovery so I can soon return home healthy.”
