Internet Personality Mara's Child Neglect Case Closed After Daughter's Near Drowning
The internet personality, identified as Mara, announced that Child Protective Services concluded their investigation just weeks after her two-year-old daughter nearly died from drowning in a swimming pool but was revived.
“A letter from CPS just arrived. For those unfamiliar with the situation, my two-year-old child had a drowning accident in late July. Fortunately, she survived and was resuscitated, which led to a CPS case being initiated,” Mara stated in a TikTok video posted on Sunday, September 7. “We’ve been dealing with CPS for approximately six weeks now.”
Mara then showed the CPS letter’s envelope on camera, detailing that the document specified the accusation as “neglectful supervision.” She claimed the investigation's conclusion was "unable to determine," resulting in the case being officially closed.
“I'm unsure what I anticipated from CPS. I had no clear expectation of the outcome,” she added. “I somewhat hoped for more – I can't quite find the precise term – but some form of repercussion for the individual responsible. I’m not sure. The case is concluded now.”

Mara had earlier recounted that she "entrusted this individual with supervising the children in the pool, and that person became distracted." Mara observed that four adults were present outdoors, but she holds only one specifically responsible.
Within the TikTok’s comments, Mara clarified her choice of words regarding "punishment." She posted, “I ought to have used ‘accountable’ rather than ‘punished.’ Please substitute those terms when watching this video.”
Mara, who commands a following of over 173,000 on TikTok under the handle @theamazingmara, disclosed in July that her two-year-old daughter, Sunny, “slipped into a backyard swimming pool” and was subsequently “discovered floating unresponsive.”
“She was retrieved from the water, and CPR commenced instantly as I dialed 911,” the update stated. “Fortunately, her breathing was restored. She is currently hospitalized and making excellent progress. We are all deeply shaken and struggling to come to terms with this, as it’s incredibly challenging. One never imagines it will happen to them until it does.”

Mara, a mother of six, has openly discussed CPS involvement “in their lives” following the event. In an August TikTok, Mara detailed that a CPS social worker interviewed her and her daughter’s father at the hospital, and a CPS case worker later spoke with the couple and all their children, in addition to conducting a “home inspection.”
Mara claimed that CPS characterized the event as an “isolated incident” and “not a matter requiring their continued concern.” She added a caption to her post: “The CPS investigation was not directed at me, but as the mother, they examine the child’s family, which brought us to this point.”
