Ivanka Trump Breaks Silence on Charlie Kirk's Tragic Death
Ivanka Trump has shared insights into her personal connection with the polarizing conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk after his sudden passing.
"What occurred is beyond belief, and deeply personal to me,” the 43-year-old Trump stated during a CNBC interview on Friday, September 12. “I’ve had a relationship with Charlie for nearly ten years. He was a man of strong character, possessing high principles, and a staunch advocate for discussion, exchange of ideas, and freedom of expression — essential elements of a democratic society.”
The daughter of the U.S. President added, “He was ultimately silenced because of his powerful ability to persuade. I believe he embodied the ideal political approach where one doesn't fear those with differing views. Instead, you invite them into dialogue and discussion, and you’re open to revising your own perspectives when a more compelling case is presented.”
Trump — who served as a senior adviser to President Donald Trump in his initial term and has since scaled back her involvement in the White House after his 2024 presidential victory — proceeded to elaborate on the detrimental effects of political division.

“When communication ceases between us, everything unravels,” Trump stated. “When we fear someone's capacity to articulate their thoughts, and Charlie was truly exceptional at that. His words, his intellect, those were his primary tools. Therefore, it's deeply saddening, and naturally, like many across this nation, my deepest sympathies go out to his cherished wife Erika [Kirk]. He held immense love for her and their wonderful children.”
Kirk, the head of the conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during an address at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, September 10. He was 31 years old.
“It is with profound sadness that the leadership team of Turning Point USA informs you that earlier this afternoon, Charlie passed away to his eternal rest with Jesus Christ in Heaven,” read a statement issued by Turning Point on Wednesday evening.
Following a 33-hour search, a 22-year-old assailant was captured and placed under arrest. He is currently incarcerated in Utah County Jail without bond and is anticipated to face formal charges on Tuesday, September 16. Kirk’s demise is being characterized as a politically motivated killing.
On Friday, September 12, Kirk’s widow, Erika, spoke publicly for the first time after her husband’s killing, sharing what she communicated to their 3-year-old daughter regarding his passing.
“Upon my return home last night, our daughter, Gigi, rushed into my embrace, and after I spoke with her, she expressed, ‘Mommy, I miss you,’ to which I replied, ‘I miss you too, sweetie,’ and she then inquired, ‘Where is daddy?’ How does one explain that to a 3-year-old? She's only three,” she recounted during a live stream broadcast on Charlie’s X account.
She went on: “And I told her, ‘Daddy loves you immensely, darling; he's on a business trip with Jesus so he can cover your blueberry expenses.”
The couple, who wed in 2021, are also parents to a 1-year-old son.

“Above all, Charlie adored his children, and he loved me wholeheartedly, a fact I was reminded of daily. He ensured I felt that love every single day,” Erika further stated. “Each day he would inquire, ‘How can I better support you? How can I improve as a husband? How can I be a more effective father?’”
“I believe my husband remains with us. He is looking out for us. I cannot recall the last time I slept. I was unable to sleep last night,” she concluded. “My dearest Charlie, I vow that I will never allow your legacy to fade, I truly won’t. Oh, Charlie, I love you. I love you, my love. May you find peace in the embrace of our lord as he covers you with the words I know your spirit always longed to hear: ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’”
