Jagger and Hamrick Shine at British Museum Ball

Rock icon Mick Jagger and ballet star Melanie Hamrick stepped out for a memorable evening!

Jagger, 82, alongside his 38-year-old fiancée Hamrick, made a notable public appearance at London's prestigious British Museum Ball this past Saturday, October 18. The couple radiated joy as they graced the red carpet, stopping to pose for photographers. The legendary Rolling Stones frontman opted for a stylish blue and black ensemble, while Hamrick dazzled in an exquisite golden gown embellished with delicate floral motifs.

In an exclusive conversation with Us in May, Hamrick elaborated on the significant reasons she and Jagger choose to keep their romance away from public scrutiny, emphasizing that its protection is paramount to her. She drew a parallel between this decision and her experiences as a professional ballet dancer.

“I believe family life is deeply personal, a sanctuary,” she remarked. “While it’s lovely to share aspects, it's akin to ballet: a certain mystique is essential, or people will grow weary.”

Hamrick confirmed her engagement to Jagger in April to Paris Match, revealing that the music legend had proposed “two or three years prior” even though they had kept the news largely private.

“Perhaps one day we’ll tie the knot, perhaps not,” Hamrick commented. “We find such contentment in our current life that I would be too apprehensive to alter anything.”

The couple’s initial encounter took place in 2014 in Tokyo, where Hamrick was performing with the American Ballet Theatre at the same time the Rolling Stones were on tour. Their relationship commenced in 2015, immediately attracting considerable attention due to their 44-year age difference.

“I don’t dwell on it. Everyone is entitled to their perspective. If you constantly consider others’ opinions, regardless of your life stage, you’ll encounter difficulties and overthink things,” Hamrick told The Sunday Times in September 2024. “I adopt a focused approach. Am I content? Yes. Are those important to me happy? Yes. Am I causing harm to anyone? No. In that case, others can tend to their own affairs.”

Hamrick also disclosed that she wasn't particularly star-struck by Jagger upon their first meeting. “Ballet dancers regularly encounter major celebrities and often react with a ‘Who are you?’ attitude. This is because, to us, ballet dancers are deities. They are the figures you admire and aspire to be. You’re so immersed in your own world,” Hamrick elaborated.

While they have not yet exchanged vows, the couple has made other significant commitments. Their son Deveraux — the rock icon’s eighth child and Hamrick’s first — became part of their family in December 2016.

“Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger are delighted to announce the birth of their son today in New York,” Jagger’s representative stated to Us Weekly at the time. “Mick was present at the hospital for the delivery. Both mother and baby are in good health, and we kindly request media respect their privacy during this period.”

The legendary musician is also a father to daughter Karis, 54, with ex Marsha Hunt; daughter Jade, 53, with former wife Bianca Jagger; daughters Elizabeth, 41, and Georgia May, 33, along with sons James, 40, and Gabriel, 27, with ex Jerry Hall; and son Lucas, 26, with ex Luciana Gimenez. Furthermore, he boasts four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
