This year, the acclaimed actor received his inaugural Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role in Presumed Innocent.

The eight-part legal drama also features performances by Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Nana Mensah, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard, Kingston Rumi Southwick, and Elizabeth Marvel. Camp, 61, and Sarsgaard, 54, were recognized with nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, concurrently, Negga, 44, secured a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the same category.
Gyllenhaal marked the significant evening with Cadieu accompanying him, marking seven years since their initial romantic connection became public. In recent years, he has spoken candidly about his romantic relationships and aspirations for what lies ahead.
During an October 2021 appearance on Howard Stern's radio program, Gyllenhaal expressed, "My sole desire is to be an excellent husband and father. … That truly is my objective." "Having now accomplished many career milestones that I am content with, I can confidently state this. I'm unsure if I would have been able to articulate it previously."
Gyllenhaal informed Stern that he preferred not to disclose specifics regarding any potential plans to propose to Cadieu. "There's a limit to how much I'll discuss it, you know," he stated. "My affection for her is immense. She is an exceptionally good individual.”
Gyllenhaal mentioned Cadieu's preference for privacy, elaborating, "And that's partly why I simply adore her. Certainly not the primary reason, but, you know, it's one factor.”

He revisited the subject of engagement during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June 2024.
"I won't provide a timeline," Gyllenhaal informed the publication. "I believe we all fall into a pattern of constant work, and for an extended period, my professional life took priority, but I've reached a stage where I understand that family is truly the most important aspect to me."
Gyllenhaal shared that he and Cadieu delight in cooking collaboratively and shared a memorable outing at KCRW's Good Food Pie Fest.
"We secured our tickets a month and a half in advance," he recalled. "My reaction was, 'Darling, we can attend! We can participate in the pie competition!'"
