Jana Kramer's G Wagon purchase proves hard work and daughter's delight makes luxury worthwhile
Jana Kramer felt immense satisfaction after purchasing a new G Wagon for herself, a feeling echoed by her 9-year-old daughter, Jolie.
“It was a wonderful moment, though I initially felt quite self-conscious about publicizing it, especially since we'd already discussed it on my ‘Whine Down’ podcast,” Kramer, 41, revealed exclusively to Us Weekly at the iHeart Radio Music Festival on Saturday, September 20. "I found the idea of posting a photo rather awkward, as I'm generally not one for ostentatious displays. My shopping habits lean towards Amazon, and my wardrobe contains very little in terms of designer items. Therefore, for me, sharing this purchase felt somewhat out of character.”
The enthusiastic reaction from Kramer's social media followers and podcast cohosts regarding the significant acquisition bolstered her “confidence” to openly commemorate the event.
"Truthfully, I wouldn't have acquired it if it hadn't been for my husband, Allan Russell," she continued. "I had often admired it, thinking, 'I truly desire that vehicle, but I'm committed to child support and other obligations, which prevents such a purchase.'"

After her 2021 divorce, Kramer had been mandated to provide child support payments to her former husband, Mike Caussin. Kramer — who co-parents Jolie and Jace, 6, with Caussin, 38 — subsequently started a new chapter with Russell, 44, marrying him in 2024, mere months after the birth of their son, Roman.
“[Allan] insisted, ‘Honey, stop. You've earned this. You labor tirelessly, and you absolutely deserve to have it,'” Kramer shared with Us at the Las Vegas festival, where she was present with her spouse. “There’s an underlying principle here. Whether it's a G Wagon, a timepiece, a new pair of shoes, or anything else, individuals who exert significant effort are entitled to treat themselves.”
Kramer confessed she remained hesitant about the acquisition until she witnessed Jolie’s response.
“I told her, 'Mommy is seriously considering whether to go through with this or not,'” the One Tree Hill alumna recounted. "And she replied, 'Mommy, you absolutely should! You put in so much effort.' Subsequently, when I collected her [in the new vehicle from] the carpool lane, she shrieked, 'Mommy, you actually did it!' That particular instance, by itself, was priceless."

Although Kramer expresses no remorse for purchasing the opulent SUV, she still felt compelled to “clarify” its importance to her audience.
“I believe it's necessary because I was raised in circumstances where we struggled to afford groceries, had utilities disconnected, and often faced a negative bank balance," she remembered. "I've dedicated immense effort to my career, and I truly cherish and adore this achievement.”
