Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, honored the memory of Charlie Kirk, two weeks following the conservative political commentator’s passing.
The chart-topping artist, 48, a five-time Grammy nominee, along with Brittany, 37, posted a touching black-and-white video on Instagram showcasing their heartfelt rendition of Luke Bryan’s 2013 track “Drink a Beer,” a song reflecting on the sudden departure of someone dear. This moving clip appeared concurrently on both of their Instagram profiles on Tuesday, September 23, accompanied by the heartfelt dedication: “For Charlie.”
Aldean delivered the poignant lines: “It’s striking how the finest depart too early / Yet the Almighty comprehends / The explanations, I suppose / Occasionally, the grander design / Is rather complex to grasp / At this moment, it lacks clarity / I cannot bring it all into focus.”
Jason and Brittany garnered immense backing from admirers and acquaintances for their unvarnished duet, notably Southern Charm personality Chelsea Meissner who conveyed her “profound affection.”

Although Jason has maintained a prominent stature in country music for the last decade and a half, his spouse also possesses a history in the music world. Brittany successfully advanced to the Hollywood phase of American Idol in 2012, at a time when she was employed as a cheerleader and an NBA dancer for the Charlotte Bobcats (presently recognized as the Charlotte Hornets).
The Aldean family maintained a strong bond with Kirk, who was delivering an address at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10 when he was tragically shot. Kirk was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. He was 31 years old.
After an intensive search lasting almost two days, 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson was apprehended on September 11. Robinson faces charges including a capital offense, aggravated murder, and illegal discharge of a firearm, in addition to less severe accusations of obstructing justice, influencing witnesses, and committing a violent act in front of a minor. Robinson has not yet formally responded to the charges, but he is set to remain incarcerated at Utah County Jail without the possibility of bail, at least until a waiver hearing scheduled for September 29.
Just hours following Kirk’s demise, Aldean shared on Instagram: “It has been a difficult day, not just for our family, but across the entire nation. Charlie Kirk represented one of the most benevolent, astute, and courageous individuals I have ever encountered.”
The country artist continued, “I am privileged to have connected with him and engaged in conversation on several instances. He embodied a peaceful spirit and harbored only aspirations for the betterment of our nation and its younger generation. While we may have lost Charlie today, his accomplishments and impact will endure perpetually. Our deepest sympathies and prayers extend to his wife, children, and the entirety of the Kirk family.”

The Aldean couple participated in Kirk’s public commemoration held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, September 21. This significant gathering included a eulogy delivered by the activist’s widow, Erika Kirk (formerly Frantzve), alongside an address by President Donald Trump and a melodic homage from vocalist Lee Greenwood.
Brittany shared her thoughts on the memorial attendance through Instagram on Tuesday, September 23, communicating to her audience that the spiritual depth of the occasion deeply moved her.
“[Speakers conveyed] that his enduring influence was immense, and his life served a distinct purpose — it was truly comforting to hear such affirmations,” she recounted. “There was simply a grander scheme intended for him, known to God.”
She continued, “Everyone present was engaged in worship. An extraordinary atmosphere permeated the space. I was aware of his profound impact on countless individuals, yet his passing distinctively feels unlike any other. Attendees at the service universally described it as: a spiritual reawakening. It is reconnecting numerous individuals with their spiritual beliefs and positively transforming countless existences.”

Charlie is survived by his wife, Erika, 36, and their two young offspring, a boy and a girl. (The couple had chosen not to publicly disclose the names of their children.)
