Jay Cutler Released From Jail After DUI Conviction
Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler has reportedly exited a Tennessee correctional facility after completing his punishment for a 2024 driving under the influence conviction.
TMZ initially broke the story of Cutler’s departure on Thursday, October 2. The media outlet acquired documents indicating that Cutler had been discharged from a Williamson County detention center the preceding evening.
Several news sources had previously stated this week that Cutler, aged 42, commenced what was intended to be a four-day incarceration period on Monday, September 29. The reason for his premature release remains unknown.

Cutler was apprehended in Tennessee during October 2024. Us verified then that he faced charges including intoxicated driving, carrying a firearm while impaired, breaking the implied consent statute, and failing to operate a vehicle with due caution.
The former professional football player collided with the back of another vehicle, and the law enforcement official who spoke with Cutler at the incident site “detected a powerful scent of alcohol,” as per an official press statement. (Cutler subsequently faced legal action from the other motorist involved in the accident.)
“Cutler’s speech was also impaired, and his eyes appeared bloodshot,” the statement detailed. “Cutler declined to perform field sobriety examinations and was transported to a nearby medical facility where a blood specimen was procured via a blood search warrant.”
Two weapons were discovered inside his pickup truck, specifically “a loaded handgun,” according to the announcement. Cutler was set free from the Williamson County Jail after posting a $5,000 bail.
Cutler attended a court hearing this past August, where he admitted guilt to a single misdemeanor DUI offense. The remaining three charges were dismissed as part of Cutler’s agreement with prosecutors. His penalty included a four-day incarceration, a requirement to pay a $350 penalty, participation in DUI education courses, and a temporary suspension of his driving privileges. Cutler is slated to undergo one year of supervised release after departing custody.
Cutler has not yet made any public statements regarding the occurrence. Nevertheless, his former spouse, Kristin Cavallari, commented on Cutler’s DUI during an installment of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast.
“Just a quick note, before we dive into the main part of the episode, I wanted to inform you all that this particular segment was taped prior to a widely publicized event involving my former husband last week,” she stated during an October 2024 broadcast. “Please bear that in mind as you listen.”

Cavallari, 38, unequivocally stated that she would “not offer any further comments” on the situation.

Cutler and Cavallari — parents to three children, Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9 — were spouses for seven years prior to revealing their split in 2020. The estranged pair finalized their legal separation in 2022.
In June of this year, Cavallari clarified to her podcast audience her rationale for generally refraining from public discussions about Cutler.
“In every single interview I conduct, questions about my former husband inevitably arise,” she explained. “And it feels like one of those circumstances where I simply cannot prevail, as I make a concerted effort never to speak of him. That is a non-negotiable point for me.”
The television personality further elaborated, “Should I utter even one minuscule detail, then the general consensus becomes, she constantly discusses her former spouse. Oh, she’s still bringing it up.”
