Jeff Garcia Voice of Sheen Estevez Dies at 50
Jeff Garcia — the voice actor known for his work in Nickelodeon’s successful movie Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and its television adaptations — has passed away at the age of 50.
TMZ reported that Garcia died on Wednesday, December 10, in a Southern California hospital after his family made the decision to remove him from life support. He was reportedly surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death.
According to the publication, Garcia suffered a brain aneurysm in the past spring and sustained a head injury during a fall. Although he recovered from both head injuries, Garcia reportedly experienced a stroke several weeks ago.
The situation worsened when Garcia was hospitalized for pneumonia in November, but after being released, he returned for further care on Monday, December 8, due to difficulty breathing. TMZ reported that Garcia’s lung collapsed on Tuesday, December 9, leading his family to ultimately choose to shut off life support later that night.

Us Weekly has contacted Garcia’s representatives for a comment.
Garcia maintained a nearly 35-year career as both a stand-up comedian and a voice actor. His most recognized role was portraying the endearingly hyperactive Sheen Estévez in the 2001 animated film success Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. He later voiced the character in multiple Nickelodeon spinoff shows, including his own series Planet Sheen, which aired for a single season on the network between 2010 and 2013.
During a February 2024 appearance on the “Reza Rifts” podcast, Garcia reflected on the lasting legacy of Jimmy Neutron years after Nickelodeon stopped producing new episodes.
“We haven’t recorded anything new in roughly two or three years,” he explained. “Kids can watch cartoons, and they can watch the same content repeatedly — [adults] cannot. What happens is after children have watched it over and over, they mature and begin watching shows [for older audiences]. A new generation arrives, and the episodes are rerun for them.”
Garcia continued, “Jimmy Neutron just broadcast around 20 episodes recently, and people were asking me, ‘Are you making new ones?’ I was like, ‘No, those are the ones we recorded in 2005!’”
His extensive voice acting work also included voicing Pip the Mouse in the 2006 animated film hit Barnyard, as well as its Nickelodeon TV spinoff Back at the Barnyard. He later lent his voice to major motion pictures such as Happy Feet, both Rio movies, and the big-screen version of Marmaduke.
Fans reacted to the news of Garcia’s death by sharing reflections on the abundant childhood memories associated with his animated performances.
“I am truly saddened to learn about the passing of Jeff Garcia, the iconic voice actor behind Sheen Estevez from Jimmy Neutron & Pip from Barnyard/Back at the Barnyard,” one fan posted on X on Wednesday. “He brought so much laughter to everyone who watched those shows growing up, and he will be missed.”
Another added, “Rest In Peace Jeff Garcia thank you for bringing to life one of the most humorously overlooked characters of the 2000s [in Sheen Estevez].”
“Rest in peace, Jeff Garcia. No one can ever replace you as Sheen,” a fan asserted.
Fellow comedian Adam Hunter paid tribute to Garcia via X, tweeting: “RIP Jeff Garcia. Departed far too soon. Such a gifted comedian. One of the best.”

In addition to his voice acting, Garcia was also an accomplished comedian who performed at renowned venues like the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles. The Laugh Factory posted a tribute to Garcia on its marquee following his death.
“Jeff is a comedian who deserves to be remembered,” Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada told TMZ on Wednesday.
He was married to Lisa Garcia from 2002 to 2013. They have two children together: Savannah and Joseph.
