Jen and Brandon Hatmaker's Family Update After Divorce and Infidelity Allegations
Jen Hatmaker and her former husband, Brandon Hatmaker, garnered significant public attention in 2014 with the debut of their HGTV series, My Big Family Renovation — and their subsequent divorce proceedings have kept them in the public eye a decade later.
Although their reality television program ran for only two seasons, viewers continued to follow the Hatmakers and their five children. Their candid sharing online made it all the more surprising when Jen announced in 2020 that she and Brandon were ending their marriage.
Five years subsequent, Jen revealed details about the separation in her memoir, Awake, disclosing that Brandon had been unfaithful prior to their split. This disclosure brought the former couple back into the public discourse and prompted fans to inquire about the current lives of the Hatmakers.

Jen Hatmaker
Jen was born in August 1974. She is the eldest of four siblings. She has two sisters, Jana and Courtney, and one brother, Drew. Jen was married to Brandon for 26 years before she initiated divorce proceedings in 2020. The former spouses share five children.
According to her official website, Jen is an author, podcaster, and curator of a book club. “I’ve penned numerous bestsellers and possess some distinguished awards which I display, primarily because I identify as an Enneagram 3, and we are quite possibly the worst,” she noted on the site.
Jen has been romantically involved with Tyler Merritt since 2021.
Brandon Hatmaker
Brandon was born in May 1972. He shares five children with his ex-wife Jen, whom he divorced in 2020 after more than two decades of marriage. Brandon is currently married to Tina Hatmaker.
Beyond co-founding The Legacy Collective, Brandon is an author and previously served as pastor of Austin New Church, which he and Jen established in 2008.
Gavin and Danielle Hatmaker
Gavin, born in April 1998, is the eldest of the Hatmaker children. He is a Texas Tech university alumnus and is married. Gavin wed Danielle in March 2024, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Weston, in August 2025.
Sydney Hatmaker
Sydney was born in May 2000, becoming the couple's eldest daughter. She earned her degree from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2023. Sydney has openly shared details about her sexuality, acknowledging she recognized her identity as a lesbian from a young age.
“This individual. She possesses the most liberated spirit I’ve ever known,” Jen expressed affectionately about her elder daughter via Instagram in May 2024. “She has consistently questioned the relentless pursuit of societal expectations, the demanding work-life culture, and the pressure to perpetually achieve more, be more, and earn more, for as long as I can recall.”
Caleb Hatmaker
Caleb was born in June 2002. “He was truly born with an untamed spirit,” Jen posted on Facebook in June 2024 when he celebrated his 24th birthday. While she described her son as an “uninhibited soul” who “cares absolutely nothing,” Caleb has consistently shown a desire to serve in the military.
In January 2025, Caleb commenced his journey with the Marines, departing for Camp Pendleton in California, as shared on Jen’s Instagram. “Oorah to my most spirited child, my most amusing, and most unconventional son. His absence creates a void that I genuinely don't know how to manage. But I am incredibly proud of him,” she enthusiastically stated at that time.
Ben Hatmaker
Ben is the second youngest Hatmaker and was the first child the former couple adopted from Ethiopia. He was born in August 2003. When Ben turned 21 in August 2024, Jen referred to him as “a source of joy and delight to the world simply by being who you are, not for what you accomplish but for your inherent self.” She further added via Instagram, “We do not require you to succeed. We are simply overjoyed that you are our child. How fortunate we are to love you and have you in our lives.”

Remy Hatmaker
Remy is the youngest of the Hatmaker children. Jen and Brandon encountered her when she was 5 years old and subsequently adopted her from Ethiopia.
“Remy is quite simply a beautiful soul. She is the most genuinely pure person I know, which does not make navigating this world easy for her,” Jen wrote about her daughter via Instagram in May 2024. “She is neither devious nor astute nor disingenuous, which are often rewarded characteristics. Instead, she is sincere and earnest, loyal and loving, generous and kind. She embodies the finest of all qualities. Be good to her, world. She is a true treasure. Here she arrives.”
Weston Hatmaker
Jen and Brandon’s inaugural grandchild, Weston, was born in August 2025. He is the sole son of Gavin and Danielle. “Weston has fundamentally altered everything: I am now a grandmother, my children are aunts and uncles, and my parents are great-grandparents,” Jen posted via Instagram at the time to announce the birth of her grandchild.
Tyler Merritt
Merritt first met Jen in 2021 during a visit to New York. The couple has been romantically involved ever since. Merritt is a comedian, actor, and the founder of The Tyler Merritt Project. He has also authored several books, including I Take My Coffee Black, released in 2021.
Tina Hatmaker
Brandon moved forward with Tina following his divorce from Jen. Tina has largely remained outside the public eye, but describes herself as a “proud wife, mom, and Texan,” in her Instagram biography.
Brandon asserted in September 2025 that Tina was not the woman with whom he engaged in an affair before his separation from Jen. “I’ve stated this previously, but I will reiterate it here. It has been presumed by some that Tina, my current wife, was my affair partner. She was not,” he conveyed via Substack. “Tina was in no way involved in or a part of my divorce in 2020. Jen corroborates this in her book. To be clear, Tina and I had never met until after the divorce papers were filed. This also transpired after Jen communicated to me that for her, ‘there was no pathway back to reconciliation.’”
