Jennifer Flavin reveals the secrets to a resilient marriage with Sylvester Stallone
Jennifer Flavin shared insights into how her marriage with husband Sylvester Stallone has grown more resilient through various challenges.
“A flawless marriage doesn't exist. Therefore, anyone seeking that ideal union should understand it's an illusion,” remarked Flavin, 57, in an exclusive preview from Us Weekly of the upcoming episode of “The Katie Miller Podcast” set to be released on Monday, October 20. “Couples experience positive days and negative days. They navigate through prosperous years and difficult years. There are periods of struggle, but also moments of immense joy.”
Flavin observed that when relationships become “somewhat challenging” for some, individuals often opt to “give up” rather than resolve their problems. She then offered advice and strategies for managing relationship difficulties.
“My primary recommendation would be to exercise mutual patience,” she counseled. “This is particularly difficult as individuals enter marriage with distinct perspectives and objectives for the union.”
A Chronology of Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin's Relationship
Flavin further elaborated on how she and Stallone, 79, have successfully endured their periods of adversity.
“Our marriage has stood strong through the years due to my immense patience and my profound capacity for forgiveness,” she stated, drawing amusement from Miller.
Beyond humor, Flavin attributed their enduring success to prioritizing dedicated time for each other, separate from their parental duties. (The couple are parents to three daughters: Sophia Rose, 28, Sistine Rose, 26, and Scarlet Rose, 22. Stallone also has two sons, Seargeoh, 44, and Sage, from his initial marriage to actress Sasha Czack. Sage passed away from coronary artery disease in 2012 at the age of 36.)
“After the children are asleep, it's truly vital for couples to have their own time … parents shouldn't constantly direct all their attention to their offspring,” she mused. “Share a glass of wine, find a quiet spot outdoors away from the children, and simply rekindle your connection.”
Flavin added, “For when the bond between husband and wife is strong, your children will also thrive.”
Stallone and Flavin first encountered each other in 1988 and were a couple for six years prior to their separation. Stallone concluded their relationship by sending Flavin a breakup letter via FedEx. Nevertheless, the two eventually resumed their romance years afterward and married in 1997.
In August 2022, Flavin initiated divorce proceedings against Stallone. Yet, the couple reconciled within two months. Us Weekly verified that the legal petition had been withdrawn.

“I experienced a renewed understanding of what held the most significance: my affection for my family. This now surpasses my professional endeavors, a realization that was difficult to grasp,” the Rocky star revealed to the Sunday Times following their reconciliation. “I wasn't sufficiently present during my children's formative years. My focus was intensely career-driven, and now I acknowledge, 'My remaining time is limited, and I wish to begin engaging with them about their experiences.'”
In December 2024, Stallone openly labeled himself a “coward” regarding his approach to his initial split from Flavin.
“One commits it to writing because they lack the courage to confront it in person,” he pondered during a segment on Fox Nation's program Sean hosted by Sean Hannity. “Truly, I found it impossible to exist without her. She embodies everything to me. My source of light and comfort. My entire world.”
The complete episode of Flavin's interview on “The Katie Miller Podcast” is scheduled for release on Monday, October 20, at 6 p.m. ET.
