Jenny Slate and Colleen Hoover Give Sworn Testimony in Blake Lively Justin Baldoni Legal Battle
Actress Jenny Slate, known for her role in It Ends With Us, and the novel's writer Colleen Hoover, have reportedly given sworn testimony in connection with the continuing legal dispute involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
According to a report from People on Friday, October 17, several individuals involved in the movie's making were summoned to provide depositions. This group comprised Hoover, aged 45, Slate, aged 43, and Isabela Ferrer.
The publication indicated that Hoover, the author of the source material for the film, recently underwent a deposition. Meanwhile, Slate, cast as the sibling of Baldoni’s character, and Ferrer, who depicted the younger portrayal of Lively’s character, reportedly gave their testimonies during the summer months.
Us Weekly has attempted to contact Hoover, Slate, and Ferrer to obtain a statement.
Every ‘It Ends With Us’ Star Who Addressed Blake Lively’s Lawsuit
The legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni originated in December 2024, when the actress leveled accusations against her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Baldoni, for alleged sexual harassment, fostering an uncomfortable workplace, and initiating a purported campaign to damage her reputation. Baldoni strongly refuted these claims and filed a counterclaim against Lively.
A judge subsequently dismissed Baldoni’s legal action against Lively. Lively’s lawsuit, however, continues. The trial is set to commence in March 2026.
Upon Lively's initial disclosure of her accusations against Baldoni, Slate publicly expressed her backing.
“As a colleague and friend of Blake Lively, I offer my support as she pursues legal action against those alleged to have orchestrated and executed an assault on her standing,” Slate communicated in a December 2024 statement to Today.com. “Blake is a strong figure, a devoted companion, and a reliable source of emotional comfort for myself and numerous others who know and cherish her.”
Hoover, too, publicly endorsed Lively following the filing of her lawsuit against Baldoni.
“Blake Lively, you have consistently demonstrated honesty, kindness, support, and patience from our first encounter,” Hoover posted on Instagram, accompanying a picture of them together. “I appreciate you for being precisely who you are. Never alter. Never fade.”
This past July, Lively underwent questioning under oath in New York City by Baldoni’s legal representatives, as proceedings geared up for their court appearances. Us had earlier confirmed Baldoni's attendance at this session.

“We are quite satisfied with the results of her sworn testimony, and we now anticipate taking depositions from Justin Baldoni and all co-defendants very soon,” a representative for Lively declared in a July statement to Us. “Testimony given under oath is kept confidential for valid reasons — it serves as evidence in a legal process and adheres to specific objections and rules of evidence. Juries are not simply provided with deposition transcripts to review at home; rather, they hear testimony presented during trial under the oversight of a judge.”
Ferrer’s participation in the lawsuit garnered attention earlier in the year subsequent to Baldoni’s legal team issuing a subpoena for her. Ferrer’s attorneys asserted that he was “bothering” her.
“Baldoni has attempted to influence, intimidate, dominate, and generally behave improperly towards Ms. Ferrer,” her legal representatives claimed in court documents acquired by Us in August.
Baldoni’s legal counsel rejected Ferrer’s allegation, stating they were reportedly “disregarded” following two attempts to solicit information from Ferrer’s attorney.
