Jessica Simpson Finds Renewed Confidence and Romance in a Powerful Career Comeback

Jessica Simpson has embraced a resurgence in 2025, diving back into her music and acting careers following a decade-and-a-half absence. Her newly single status appears to have influenced a similar shift in her romantic endeavors.

“Currently, I find myself drawn to younger individuals,” she revealed to Extra in an interview released on Friday, October 17. “Upon recent separation … I’m realizing that younger men tend to appreciate the self-assurance of a more mature woman.”

Crucially, Simpson, at 45 years old, emphasized, “I’m thoroughly enjoying myself!”

Simpson and her spouse, Eric Johnson, made their split public in January. Although a formal divorce filing hasn't occurred yet, they are “exploring their changed reality,” an insider disclosed to Us Weekly back in September.

“Their co-parenting is harmonious, and all involved appear content,” the source shared. “They communicate and meet regularly, having committed to maintaining a civil relationship for their children’s sake, regardless of future developments.”

Simpson and Johnson, 46, tied the knot in 2014 and are parents to daughters Maxwell, 13, Birdie, 6, and son, Ace, 12.

“Jessica and Eric have maintained a very cordial and peaceful relationship lately, prioritizing their children,” the insider further commented.

“Our kids are our primary concern, and our focus is on their well-being,” Simpson stated in a message to Us. “We are thankful for the outpouring of affection and encouragement and kindly request discretion as we navigate this period as a family.”

Embarking on a new chapter, Simpson is also making a comeback to live performances. She premiered a pair of new tracks, “Breadcrumbs” and “Leave,” at Texas’ South By Southwest festival, marking her initial stage appearance in a decade and a half.

“Returning to this essential aspect of myself felt incredibly moving,” she posted on Instagram beneath a video clip of her performance. “I’m grateful for your warm reception. While I have much more to express, I’m fortunate that my voice can resonate once more tonight. Love you all. Anticipate more.”

Additionally, she dropped two EPs, her initial musical offerings since 2010, and has been on tour consistently through 2025.

“Now in my forties, when I’m performing, my mind is completely clear,” she shared with Extra. “I&m fully immersed in the moment, having taken such a long break that it feels like, ‘This segment of my existence is incredible, why did I ever step away?’”

Simpson has also made a comeback to acting. She holds a recurring part in Ryan Murphy’s legal series All’s Fair, scheduled for its Hulu debut on November 4. The ensemble for All’s Fair features an impressive lineup, including Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Kim Kardashian, and Naomi Watts.

“Frankly, being in the company of individuals such as Naomi Watts, who possesses such remarkable understated self-assurance, taught me to fully inhabit a scene, to listen, and to absorb the unfolding atmosphere,” she explained.

Simpson further hinted that her role involves some “racy” encounters.

“Audiences will witness some passionate and intense moments from me, elements I previously reserved solely for intimate settings,” she commented. “It doesn’t involve nudity. My character certainly has some mischievous aspects; she strives to please her partner and maintain her allure despite growing older.”
