Jessica Simpson reveals Ashton Kutcher's hilarious reaction to her virginity confession

Jessica Simpson recounted a notable incident where she informed Ashton Kutcher that she maintained her virginity until she was 22.

“I will always remember telling Ashton I was a virgin,” Simpson, currently 45, shared during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, November 19. “He responded with, ‘Why?’”

Simpson and Kutcher, now 47, appeared together in season 5 of That ‘70s Show, which aired in 2002. Simpson portrayed Annette Berkardt, a romantic interest for Kutcher’s character, Michael Kelso. Mirroring her real life, Simpson’s on-screen persona was also a virgin.

When Kutcher inquired why Simpson hadn’t progressed sexually with anyone, she explained it was “because I haven’t met my husband yet.” Simpson revealed to ET that she had, in fact, already known her future first husband, Nick Lachey, at that time. (Simpson and Lachey were wed from 2003 to 2005.)

“At that point in my life, I was very naive,” she expressed. “I wasn’t contemplating other people’s romantic lives at all.”

Simpson mentioned that she openly discussed being a virgin because she frequently faced inquiries about her relationships.

“They must have questioned me about intimacy. It wasn’t as if I would say, ‘Hello, my name is Jessica Simpson. I am a virgin,'” she joked.

While Simpson conceded that some individuals were probably “taken aback” by her frankness, she has always been an inherently honest person.

“But I’ve always been transparent,” she stated. “Abstinent — but open.”

In her 2020 memoir, Open Book, Simpson reflected on the public nature of her decision to abstain from sex until her marriage to Lachey, now 52.

“It provided a narrative for America to follow,” she penned. “The alluring virgin and the patient, yet understanding, handsome prince. … Nick appreciated my strong adherence to my faith … [But] I would become so exasperated, praying for God to remove the spiritual veil from his eyes and assist him in finding his spiritual core.”

Fans of Newlyweds are aware that Simpson and Lachey’s marriage ultimately failed, with the couple filing for divorce in 2005. After their separation, the 98 Degrees vocalist met his current wife, Vanessa Lachey, whom he married in 2011. The couple shares three children: Camden, 13, Brooklyn, 10, and Phoenix, 8.

Simpson, on her part, wed Eric Johnson in 2014. The pair also have three children: Maxi, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 6. The singer announced earlier this year that she and Johnson, 46, had separated after a decade of marriage.

“Eric and I have been residing separately while navigating a difficult situation in our marriage,” Simpson informed Us Weekly in a statement in January. “Our children are our priority, and we are concentrating on their well-being. We are thankful for all the affection and encouragement we have received, and we request privacy at this time as we address this as a family.”

Amid her ongoing divorce, Simpson recently commemorated a sobriety achievement.

“8 years ago today I decided to face, to admit, and to release the self-destructive aspects of my life that I was choosing,” the singer wrote via Instagram in November. “Making that choice enabled me to fully pursue God’s[sic] purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, hindered my aspirations, and fueled my persistent fears of inaction.”
