Jinger Duggar Reveals Hesitation About Flu Shots Amidst CDC Recommendations

Jinger Duggar is expressing her views on influenza vaccinations.

During an Instagram question-and-answer session with her followers on Wednesday, January 7, the former Counting On star was inquired about whether she receives the flu shot.

“I’ve never received one and am unsure if I will at this point,” Duggar, 32, responded. “However, I certainly dislike having the flu.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seasonal influenza activity is elevated and continues to rise across the nation.

Nearly all 50 states are experiencing high to very high levels of flu activity. Common symptoms include fevers, a sore throat, extreme fatigue, and body aches.

Duggar’s post, however, comes shortly after the Department of Health and Human Services announced a significant revision of the childhood vaccination schedule.

Effective immediately, the administration stated on Monday, January 5, that the flu vaccine will be removed from the official childhood vaccine schedule.

For the current flu season, however, the CDC still suggests seasonal flu vaccination for children, pregnant women, and adults.

Duggar shares Felicity, 7, Evangeline, 5, and Finnegan, 9 months, with husband Jeremy Vuolo. In her latest Instagram Q&A, the former TLC reality star did not address whether other family members do or do not get the flu vaccine.

According to the CDC, Americans can take measures to prevent getting a serious case of the flu. Some suggestions include practicing good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing and covering coughs. It’s also recommended to avoid close contact with sick individuals, disinfect surfaces, and support your immune system with a healthy diet, exercise, and rest.

This isn’t the first time Duggar has garnered attention for her health perspectives.

Why Jinger Duggar Is 'Going Back and Forth' About Giving Son Finn Formula

In October 2025, the mother of three openly shared her feelings toward modern medicine after her daughter Felicity was taken to the emergency room for a possible ear infection.

“I don’t like using medicine,” she said on a podcast after offering her daughter ibuprofen for pain. “I’m against medicine.”

Vuolo ultimately took Felicity to the ER, clarifying that his wife isn’t “so alternative” that she’s “against modern medicine” entirely.

During her Q&A on Wednesday, Duggar was also asked to share her favorite workout or fitness routines.

After giving birth in March 2025, Duggar admitted that she hasn’t been as dedicated to fitness as she previously was.

“So I actually haven’t returned to working out since having Finn and I truly hope to soon, because as the new year is beginning, that is definitely one of the things at the top of my list, which I feel like it’s just so commonplace because everyone’s like, ‘My new year’s resolution is to start working out again,’” she said. “Well, genuinely, that’s my new year’s resolution. That and to have more consistent devotions early in the morning. We’ll see how it goes.”

Duggar continued, “I really don’t know right now. There’s so much to manage now with the kids and I need to make it happen. It’s time. In the past, I have used [virtual] Beachbody, which I enjoy.”
