J.Lo and Ben Affleck Reunite on Red Carpet for "Kiss of the Spider Woman" Premiere
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reunited — for a red-carpet appearance.
The former couple, whose divorce was finalized in February, appeared jointly at the New York City premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman on Monday, October 6. Lopez, aged 56, holds a starring role in the movie, while Affleck’s production firm, Artist’s Equity, was responsible for its production.
Lopez captivated attendees at the occasion in a bespoke Harris Reed architectural dress that highlighted her figure. Her hair was swept back elegantly at the nape of her neck, and she wore subtle earrings to emphasize the gown. Affleck, meanwhile, chose a classic blue suit paired with a white collared shirt.
The duo was observed sharing smiles and laughter as they posed for members of the press, and they were subsequently seen engaging in conversation on the carpet prior to entering the screening.

In an interview with Extra, Affleck clarified his initial motivation for participating in the film, which is set to debut in cinemas on Wednesday, October 10.
“[Matt Damon] and I established this company, and a core aspect of it was to fund films,” he conveyed to the publication. “I wasn’t interested in merely creating films that were predictable or that others would inevitably produce. We are genuinely committed to supporting artists who take chances and are eager to invest in exceptional talent. Therefore, as a financier and producer of this movie, it perfectly embodies the type of work we aim to pursue with our productions: offering individuals the chance to demonstrate their extraordinary abilities to the world.”
Affleck also expressed his fervent admiration for Lopez’s “astonishing” performance in the picture, remarking that he is “as proud of this film as any project I’ve ever participated in. I am genuinely thrilled to attend this evening.”
The Academy Award recipient commended his former spouse’s dedication, stating she committed “her complete effort” to the character. “Her diligent work was immense,” he commented. “You witness the breadth of her diverse talents; she is someone who matured with an appreciation for, you know, timeless musicals.”
Recognizing her versatile capacity to perform as an actress, vocalist, and dancer, he further stated, “She truly excels in every aspect within this film.”
Drawing from the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig and the 1993 Broadway production bearing the identical title, Kiss of the Spider Woman narrates the tale of inmate Valentin (Diego Luna). Valentin shares confinement with Molina (Tonatiuh), a window dresser found guilty of public indecency. The two develop an improbable connection as Molina vividly describes a Hollywood musical featuring his beloved leading lady, Ingrid Luna (Lopez).
Across her promotional tour, Lopez has consistently expressed gratitude to Affleck for his contribution to the film, asserting its inability to have commenced production without his aid.
“My deepest thanks, thank you everyone for your presence this evening. Thank you, Ben; this film would not have come to fruition without Ben and without Artist Equity,” Lopez stated before Monday night’s showing, as reported by People. “When I read the screenplay, you know, I was in bed and utterly astounded. I thought, ‘Is this truly happening right now? I have the chance to sing, to dance, to act. I get to portray a classic Hollywood movie star!’”
Lopez and Affleck exchanged vows in 2022, following the termination of an earlier engagement several decades prior. Lopez initiated divorce proceedings two years subsequent, citing April 26, 2024, as their official separation date.

While featured on CBS Sunday Morning recently, the “Waiting for Tonight” vocalist shared insights into managing the filming of Kiss of the Spider Woman concurrently with navigating marital difficulties with Affleck.
“It was challenging to compartmentalize my thoughts, yet it felt like both the pinnacle and nadir of experiences,” she recounted. “Each instant while on set … brought me immense joy. However … upon returning home, circumstances were unfavorable. Still, you persevere, and, truly, I must admit, it was the most beneficial event that has ever occurred to me, as it transformed me. It facilitated my personal development in ways I required … enabling me to gain greater self-awareness. I am a transformed individual today compared to a year ago.”
Kiss of the Spider Woman is scheduled for release in cinemas on Wednesday, October 10.
