JoJo Siwa Celebrates Boyfriend Chris Hughes' 33rd Birthday with Soccer-Themed Festivities
JoJo Siwa is celebrating another year of life for her boyfriend Chris Hughes.
“This day 33 years ago was a truly wonderful day – the day my most cherished person was born,” Siwa, 22, wrote via Instagram on Monday, December 22. “Happy birthday to my beloved. I can’t imagine a life without you anymore; you are the best friend, son, brother, and boyfriend. You improve my life each day that passes. Everyone who knows you is fortunate. I love you more than mashed potatoes.”
Alongside the message, Siwa shared a glimpse of her birthday festivities for Hughes, 33. In one image, Hughes smiled as he leaned over the counter to admire his soccer-themed birthday cake. Behind Hughes, the home was decorated with soccer-themed items, including balloons, inflated balls, and streamers.
Hughes responded to the birthday shout-out in the comments section, writing, “Thank you.”
JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes Discuss Their Future Engagement
Siwa and Hughes initially connected on the U.K.’s Celebrity Big Brother in April, with her expressing her feelings about their connection in a May digital cover story with Us Weekly.
“What’s so special about Chris and I is that our connection is so authentic that neither of us care what people think of it,” Siwa told Us at the time. “Because we know our genuine friendship and we know our bond. It’s a lovely, special friendship that we have. And I frequently send him videos of us dancing.”
Siwa and Hughes confirmed their romance in June. The following month, Hughes exclusively told Us that he and Siwa have been considering their future together.
“We honestly talk about this with each other,” Hughes said at the time. “When you are completely captivated by someone and you are in love with them, I think it’s enjoyable to look forward to those things.”
JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes Relationship Timeline
He continued, “Of course I want to get married. I would never avoid saying that. I want to marry and eventually I want to have children. We both come from very loving and wholesome families who care … So it would be nice to replicate that in the future.”
Months later, Siwa and Hughes shared their thoughts on a possible engagement – including whether he would want her to propose to him.
“I’ve spoken to people about it, before you, obviously. And I actually said, I think if I was proposed to, that would make me feel uneasy,” Hughes explained regarding Siwa popping the question to him.
Siwa shared that she wouldn’t ask for his hand in marriage unless he waited seven years to propose, which Hughes agreed was “fair.”
“I don’t feel like anyone should wait seven years. It shouldn’t take seven years to figure out if you want to marry someone, do you know what I mean?” Hughes said. “So yeah, you can take that as a definitive no, and that will never happen.”
“Just so you know, on May 27, 2032, I will be getting down on one knee,” Siwa replied as she and Hughes laughed. “I will not wait a single day longer.”
