JoJo Siwa Hints at a Fresh Chapter with Name Change and Future Plans
JoJo Siwa appears to be signaling a fresh start.
On Wednesday, December 31, Siwa, 22, subtly altered her display name on her TikTok profile to her full name, Joelle Siwa. In a video posted that same day, Siwa offered a glimpse into potential plans for the coming year.
“Do you have any plans for 2026?” she wrote alongside the video which featured her 2016 song “Boomerang.”
In the clip, Siwa wore a ponytail with a black bow reminiscent of her signature style from her time on Dance Moms.

Siwa mouthed the words, “I’m going to return like a boomerang.”
In the video’s caption, Siwa hinted at “what a year lies ahead.”
Following the change, fans flocked to the comments section to share their reactions.
“Who is Joelle Siwa,” several users inquired, while another playfully remarked, “Ummm joelle siwa? I seem to have missed some developments.”
Numerous fans also clarified that Joelle is Siwa’s given name.
“Her real name is Joelle, Jojo was simply a nickname. Are you all unfamiliar with this?” one user quipped.
While some fans expressed surprise at the change, others were supportive of Siwa.
“She’s switched her account name from jojo to joelle; I’m thrilled that she’s finally comfortable being authentically herself rather than the persona she previously presented,” one fan wrote, while another enthusiastically stated, “Joelle feels so genuine, wishing you all the happiness in 2026.”
The name change isn’t the only unexpected development Siwa has experienced recently. The dancer surprised fans when she began dating her Celebrity Big Brother costar Chris Hughes. The pair formed a friendship while competing on the U.K. reality series, which blossomed into a romance after the show concluded.
“What’s so special about Chris and I is that our connection is so genuine that neither of us care what people think of it,” Siwa exclusively told Us Weekly in her May 2025 digital cover story. “Because we know our genuine friendship and we know our bond. It’s a wonderful, special friendship that we have. And I frequently send him videos of us dancing.”
Hughes later told Us that things were progressing seriously between him and Siwa as the couple has discussed their future.
“We genuinely talk to each other about this,” Hughes said in July 2025. “When you are completely captivated by someone and you are in love with them, I think it’s enjoyable to look forward to those things.”

The Love Island UK alum continued, “Of course I want to get married. I would never hesitate to say that. I want to marry and one day I want to have children. Last month, Siwa shared a heartfelt tribute in honor of Hughes’ 33rd birthday.
“This day 33 years ago was a wonderful day … the day my favorite person was born,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “Happy birthday to my love. I can’t imagine a life without you in it anymore, you are the best friend, son, brother, and boyfriend. You improve my life each day that passes. Everyone who knows you is fortunate. Love you more than tater tots.”
