Jon Gosselin's Tumultuous Love Life: From Kate Plus 8 to a New Chapter

Concerning romantic relationships, former reality television personality Jon Gosselin has certainly encountered his share of triumphs and tribulations.

Jon was united in marriage with his former wife Kate Gosselin, with whom he shares eight children, from 1999 until their divorce in 2009. Although the Gosselins’ marital bond concluded amidst allegations of Jon's disloyalty, he consistently refuted these claims.

Since that time, Jon has been involved with several women before becoming engaged to Stephanie Lebo in 2024. At that juncture, Jon shared with The U.S. Sun, “We are genuinely content and deeply in love. We are very comfortable with each other; it simply feels right. Furthermore, all our friends are shared individuals, rather than ‘your friends’ and ‘my friends.’” They exchanged vows in 2025.

However, that contentment has not prevented him from commenting on his ex-wife’s romantic pursuits. In 2025, Jon posted an image of Kate and her rumored partner, Steve Neild, on Instagram, accompanying it with the caption, “Guess who truly destroyed the marriage. Read for yourselves.”

He further remarked: “Perhaps now when I speak, people will finally listen!!!”

The couple’s son, Collin, also accused his mother of dishonesty. “This serves as my formal invitation to undertake a lie detector test with my mom lol,” he wrote on his Instagram Story in 2025. “Then, we’ll discover who has been fabricating stories directly to the public. I am being completely serious, by the way.”

Kate Gosselin

Jon and Kate exchanged marriage vows in June 1999. The couple appeared in Discovery Health specials alongside their offspring and achieved national recognition when their reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8 premiered on TLC in April 2007.

The program chronicled the lives of the couple with their children: twins Cara and Mady and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel.

Despite Jon and Kate renewing their marital vows in August 2008, they announced their separation in June 2009 — months after reports of Jon's alleged affair surfaced. In a September 2009 appearance on ABC’s Primetime: Family Secrets, Jon asserted that Kate was abusive. As he stated, “I endured abuse. I sought therapy.”

Jon also opted to cease filming the family’s show, which was rebranded as Kate Plus 8 in October 2009 after he was sued by TLC for breach of contract. Jon initiated a $5 million countersuit against the network in November 2009, but TLC ultimately prevailed and won the case in December of the same year.

In July 2009, Kate conveyed to People regarding the split, “On a good day, I experience relief. On a bad day, I feel like a failure. I have never given up on anything in my life. It feels as though I have failed. It is challenging. This is the first battle I’ve fought alone. Truly, truly alone.”

She continued: “It was one event after another where I came to realize: This is not the same individual I married. I recall simply looking at him and thinking, ‘I would not choose to marry that exact person right now … so why am I here?’ Our objectives no longer align, our aspirations no longer match, our perspectives no longer coincide.”

Jon and Kate finalized their divorce in December 2009. Kate’s decision to participate in Dancing With the Stars the following year seemingly prompted Jon to file for legal custody of their eight children, and his lawyer characterized Kate as “an absentee mom” while she rehearsed for the show in the basement of the home she shared with their kids. At that time, Kate’s then-attorney Mark Momijan informed RadarOnline, “We have not received any formal filing yet, but I cannot imagine anything further from the truth. Kate is a devoted mother. Her concern for the well-being of her children is so paramount that any allegations like this report are reckless and so far from the mark, it’s offensive.”

Kate initiated her own lawsuit against Jon in August 2013, accusing him of employing “illegal hacking” to provide author Robert Hoffman with information for his book Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World. She withdrew the case in November 2013.

In January 2016, Jon disclosed to Steve Harvey that he had not “seen all [his] kids together in approximately three years.” Twins Mady and Cara responded to People in August 2016, with Mady explaining then, “He makes it seem as though we are being kept from him, which is preposterous. He should perhaps devote some time to considering why we don’t wish to see him, and perhaps recognize that if he ever desires a relationship with us, discussing us on television is not the method to achieve that.”

In April 2018, Jon revealed he had custody of their daughter Hannah and announced he was also seeking custody of Collin, who was residing in a treatment facility for minors at the time. Collin moved in with Hannah and Jon in December 2018.

After Kate announced she was in a new relationship, reportedly with the family’s former bodyguard, Neild, in September 2025, Collin accused his mother of having an affair with Neild in 2009. He and Hannah were not visible in images Kate shared on social media while commemorating the sextuplets’ 21st birthday in May 2025.

Deanna Hummel

In May 2009, five individuals, including two relatives of Deanna Hummel’s, informed Us that she and Jon had an affair. The third-grade teacher’s brother Jason told Us, “She’s a kind woman, not a destroyer of homes. He is a poor liar. This is not beneficial for her. But she is unwilling to help herself, so here I am attempting to help her myself. I hope this clarifies the situation.”

Stephanie Santoro

In September 2009, the Gosselin family’s former nanny Stephanie Santoro alleged she and Jon had an affair. Santoro recounted to In Touch Weekly that she worked for the family for one month, and during that period Jon invited her over and gave her a massage. She also stated Jon told her, “Well, I suppose we can kiss just once” and “Whatever you do, don’t fall in love with me, because it’s going to be impossible for me not to fall in love with you.” Jon denied these accusations.

Kate Major Lohan

Also in September 2009, former Star journalist Kate Major (now Lohan) claimed she and Jon had a brief romance following his separation from Kate — another relationship Jon has disavowed. “I will undergo a lie detector test, and I would appreciate Jon taking a lie detector test because for him to claim there was no romance is an absolute falsehood,” she told HLN’s Showbiz Tonight, according to People.

She added: “If I could speak to Kate Gosselin, I certainly would. I believe we would have much in common, and I feel sympathy for her. I think she’s definitely handling this with grace, and I’m sure it’s very difficult and the last thing I would want is for any of his children to witness this, but then again, I’m not the parent.”

Hailey Glassman

Hailey Glassman, a family acquaintance who is 10 years Jon’s junior, and the former reality star were romantically involved sometime after his split with Kate until their breakup in December 2009. In March 2011, Glassman informed RadarOnline that Jon once attempted to extort Kate.

She stated: “We were in bed, and Jon called Kate on speakerphone. He wrote down what he intended to say to her and then he read from his notes. He told her, ‘You either give me money or I’m going to call [Child Protective Services].’”

Glassman added, “Kate began screaming, and Jon merely started laughing. He just chuckled at her. Later, when he concluded the call, I asked him, ‘What are you doing? Why are you doing this? This is the mother of your eight children!’ And he told me, ‘Oh, you don’t understand what I experienced with her, what I had to contend with.’”

In response, Jon posted on X (then Twitter), “Radar Online has once again been misled by Hailey Glassman, who is apparently jobless and desperate for funds. This article contains so many falsehoods, they are too numerous to list. It is entirely untrue and completely baseless.”

Morgan Christie

Reports that Jon was dating then-law student Morgan Christie emerged in January 2010. The pair attended the Sundance Film Festival together that same month, but Morgan ended the relationship in March 2010.

Liz Jannetta

Jon and Liz Jannetta, a mother of three, first met in February 2012. That May, she told Inside Edition, “I didn’t watch the show. Anything I knew about Jon was from the tabloids. You know, Jon the womanizer.” The couple remained together for two years, during which they appeared on the fourth season of VH1’s series Couples Therapy. They separated in 2014 after Jon remarked on the series, “When Liz laughs at me and walks away, it’s like Kate. That’s exactly how I feel.”

Colleen Conrad

Jon announced his relationship with nurse practitioner Colleen Conrad in mid-2014. The couple dated for seven years until their split in August 2021, four months after Conrad was diagnosed with breast cancer. “We had ongoing issues prior to our breakup and prior to her diagnosis, so we experienced difficulties in the relationship for an extended period and truly didn’t want any stress during her treatment,” Jon explained on The Dr. Oz Show. “So we believed it was best that we simply end our relationship and focus on our friendship and support her through her treatment.”

Stephanie Lebo

Jon and Lebo publicly acknowledged their relationship in August 2023 when they disclosed to The U.S. Sun that they had started dating after his separation from Conrad. “He had ordered me a crème brûlée cheesecake, so it was awaiting me when I arrived, which was incredibly thoughtful, but I don’t care for cheese, so that was somewhat amusing,” Lebo told the publication regarding their initial date.

Lebo added that the couple connected over their past relationships. “We share so much in common because we have both been with individuals who were not the best for us, but we wouldn’t appreciate what we have together if it weren’t for those experiences,” she clarified.

Jon and Lebo announced their engagement in December 2024. He later informed Entertainment Tonight that he “would definitely” invite his estranged children to their wedding. They were married in November 2025.
