Julia Fox Slams Sports Superstitions Blaming Taylor Swift for Chiefs' Losses

Julia Fox made it unequivocally clear she has no patience for any athletic superstitions that unfairly target "women" — and she's certainly not allowing Taylor Swift to be blamed for the Kansas City Chiefs' current 1-2 season start.

In a powerful new interview with Pedestrian.TV, conducted to promote her upcoming psychological thriller, Him — which delves into the intense realm of professional football — Fox, 35, criticized those who hold WAGS (wives and girlfriends) of athletes responsible when team performance falters on the field or court.

"For instance, if a male athlete loses a game, it's considered a girl's 'fault,' it's, like, his girlfriend's 'fault.' It's just absurd. And all the superstitions and all the completely irrational nonsense that these men believe, you know, ultimately leads to a woman taking the blame," Fox articulated to the publication on Thursday, September 25.

"I recall Travis Kelce losing a game, and then people were suggesting it was Taylor Swift's fault. It was just like, 'What? That's ridiculous!' But, you know, they love to accuse women."

"It's like, oh, I wasn't aware we possessed such power," Fox commented, adding, "So you're conceding that we are powerful? So you're admitting it?"

The Uncut Gems actress pointed out that women in relationships with sports figures must endure significant public scrutiny and cultivate resilience due to being propelled into the public eye.

"Eventually you do find yourself reading the gossip or whatever, the tabloids. It kind of sparks your curiosity," she observed. "The stakes are incredibly high and the pressure is immense."

"It appears to be such an intense world. … It's definitely not for me," Fox continued. "I certainly have a newfound respect for individuals in that environment, particularly the women."

Taylor Swift Reportedly Attends Chiefs Game Despite Rumors of Absence

Swift, 35, and Kelce, 35, have mutually supported each other's careers ever since their discreet relationship began in July 2023.

NFL enthusiasts were surprised when the "Shake It Off" singer-songwriter attended one of his Kansas City Chiefs home games in September 2023, and Swift subsequently became a regular presence in the stands as she cheered him on throughout the season.

Kelce also demonstrated his support for Swift by traveling internationally to see her perform, with his first visit occurring in Argentina in November 2023.

More recently, the pop superstar announced the release date of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on his "New Heights" podcast, also unveiling the cover art for her new project during the August 13 episode.

That same month, the influential couple reached a significant milestone in their relationship, publicly announcing their engagement. "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," Swift captioned an Instagram post on August 26, alongside photographs of the Chiefs tight end kneeling.

Jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia informed Us Weekly that Swift's ring could be valued between $950,000 and $1,270,000. The Abelini founder added, "The stone itself appears to be comfortably in the 7–10 carat range, which immediately places it among the most celebrated engagement rings worn by celebrities."

Another jeweler, Laura Taylor, who specializes in engagement and wedding rings, told Us that the ring might be up to 12 carats. Taylor estimated that it was "easily worth" $1 million.
