Kanye West Documentary Features Deceased Charlie Kirk in Unsettling 2018 Encounter
The recently released Kanye West documentary titled In Whose Name? includes an unexpected appearance by the deceased Charlie Kirk.
Within a segment of the film, shot across a six-year period, West, currently 48, convenes with Kirk and conservative pundit Candace Owens for a strategic discussion.
“It's important for me to present a model of an imperfect Black public figure who nonetheless succeeds,” West explains to the pair. “As, if you're a Black star and you’re flawless, you’re perceived as the domestic worker.”
Owens, 36 years old, appears to concur with the music artist, stating he would be a “distinguished servant” in that situation, whereas Kirk suggests West would be “the assistant.”

“Societal trends will consistently precede political movements,” Owens informs the award-winning musician. “Those who govern cultural narratives can govern political landscapes. … Your decision to wear a MAGA hat? It caused a massive stir online.”
The encounter involving West, Kirk, and Owens occurred in 2018, the identical year West garnered significant attention following his visit to the White House during President Donald Trump’s initial term. On that occasion, West notably sported one of Trump’s red “Make America Great Again” baseball caps.
“They attempted to intimidate me into not donning this headwear,” West communicated to Trump, currently 79, back then. “This cap, it imbues me with a sense of strength. You fashioned a Superman cloak for me.”
When Owens and Kirk met with West, Owens held the position of communications director for Kirk’s non-profit entity, Turning Point USA. Kirk established the organization, which champions conservative perspectives at universities, in 2012 at the age of 18.

Kirk tragically died on September 10, having been shot during an address at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Forty-eight hours later, law enforcement apprehended his alleged assailant, Tyler Robinson, who surrendered upon his parents' urging. Robinson was later indicted on charges including aggravated murder, unlawful use of a firearm resulting in severe injury, two counts of impeding justice, two counts of tampering with witnesses, and perpetrating a violent crime while a child was present.
He has not yet formally responded to the charges. Utah state attorneys declared their intention to pursue capital punishment.
Subsequent to Charlie’s demise, his surviving spouse, Erika Kirk (formerly Frantzve), was appointed Chief Executive Officer and board chair of Turning Point.

Charlie had readied us all for a circumstance of this nature.”
The declaration proceeded, “He labored relentlessly to guarantee that Turning Point USA was constructed to endure even the most severe trial. And currently, it is with immense pride that we introduce Erika Kirk as the incoming CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA.”
The married pair, who exchanged vows in 2021, were parents to a 3-year-old daughter and a 19-month-old son.
